Emma Downing
MS, LCAT, R-DMT
I work with all individuals who have a desire to define, explore, and expand themselves in a creative way. My ideal client is ready to work to build self-esteem, self-compassion, self-awareness, and healthy boundaries with others. Much of my work has been with individuals who have been through sexual, physical, and emotional traumas, with a focus on how childhood trauma shapes adulthood, complex/chronic PTSD, and early-age PTSD. I also work with individuals on the autism spectrum and with other developmental disorders to support them in gaining a greater understanding of themselves and others, and an increased mastery of expression.
As a movement therapist, I am a believer that our bodies are our greatest sources of knowledge. They can give us information about ourselves, our pasts, our wants and needs, about other people, and about the world. With combined use of the body, verbal psychotherapy, and therapeutic art-making, I will help you develop your healthiest and most authentic life.
Healing occurs within a secure and containing therapeutic relationship, between patient and therapist, where you can be witnessed at your most authentic without judgements. Within this relationship, you will find honest communication, empathy, healthy boundaries, and a safe space for all feelings. I am here to see you and guide you on your journey of growth.
