I have been working in the therapeutic field for over 20 years providing an array of inpatient, home-based and outpatient services. I have experience treating children, adolescents and adults struggling with dysfunctional behavioral issues, substance abuse, depression and emotional regulation, as well as mental health and trauma-related issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. I am adept at customizing and integrating various therapeutic techniques and tools for my clients to aid them in being successful during their life journey. I am passionate about helping others reach their goals of living their best life possible.
My approach to counseling is using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), expressive therapy and EMDR. CBT will help you become aware of your self-talk and how it impacts your thoughts and feelings. Once you become aware of those two things you are able to reframe from negative thoughts.
Expressive/play/art therapy allows people to become aware of what is going on with them through a different technique which can feel "safer." It is one of the best ways to work with children (though I use it with many of my adult clients too). EMDR helps clients work through distressing events in a mindful state and can alleviate any anguish in their life.
