Hello! My name is Emily. I am a licensed couple, family and child therapist. I have a lot of toys and games in my office for my kiddo clients so I always get asked if I see adults too. Yes, I see people of all ages! My background is in human development and the ways in which attachment, traumas, and other significant life experiences shape how our automatic nervous systems respond to environmental triggers, brain structure, and behaviors at each different life cycle stage. Anxiety, anger, mood shifts, loneliness, loss, detachment, fear of trust, chronic illness, people with higher sensitivities- these are some of my top areas.
I've worked as an educator, researcher, and counselor in various settings (K-12, universities, and with national research projects). I offer many different evidence-based therapy models ranging from DBT skills building, CBT, post modern styles, to play therapy &art therapy. I am also certified in EMDR that I use to frequently treat diverse forms of trauma.
Honestly, perhaps the most important part of picking a therapist is their personal style. You have to feel comfortable or it simply won't work. So I will tell you I think my style is artsy, nurturing, and poetic. I will often bring in short creative stories, diagrams, science, or art to bring a concept to life.
