I effectively work with a variety of concerns and symptoms, including: various levels of depression, anxiety, mood management, identity issues, loss of purpose and meaning, religious trauma, anger, shame, breaking codependency, struggles with self worth, setting limits and boundaries with others and obligations, sexuality or gender identity issues, unhealthy relationship patterns—but ultimately I strive to help clients become whole beings by reintegrating disowned parts of themselves. I find my passion strongest and my work most effective with young adults (18-24) and earlier adulthood (25-50).
I use a lot of experiential exercises (empty chair, two chair, exaggeration techniques) to bring emotions into the here and now. To resolve issues that lead to unwanted feelings we must first be actively experiencing those emotions--passive talk is often ineffective in identifying triggers and developing effective coping skills--active exploration is key.
High five for acknowledging your mental health and taking an active role in your life! This is something many people spend their whole existence avoiding--leaving them stuck in a patterns of dysfunction, unhappiness, or inaction. Seeking counseling can be hard but I truly believe YOU CAN DO HARD THINGS and I would love to help you find your way.
