I am a multi-state licensed marriage and family therapist, EMDR trained, certified sex therapy informed professional, and currently in a graduate program for sex therapy. I have been in the mental health field for over 10 years working with teens, adults, and couples to help them heal from the trauma of their past and work towards their desired life. I have experience working in community based mental health services, inpatient, outpatient, justice involved settings, group homes, and serving on a community based collaboration with law enforcement to assess mental health crises.

I came from a family who believed worry and anxiety was a primary love language and they used unhealthy coping skills including drugs, alcohol, and gambling. I know first-hand that it is difficult to break family patterns and it is not a one-time fix. I understand how mental illness and addiction impact the whole family. I myself was well into my adulthood before I realized that just because I was not abusing drugs and alcohol, I was caught in the insanity by trying to control those family members who were as well as those who I thought were enabling. I went to therapy and learned how to set and maintain healthy boundaries.

I believe in creating an environment which serves as a ‘soft place to land’ for my clients. When children are challenged, the entire family is challenged. By creating a positive environment where children feel accepted, valued, and safe, they are able to make sense of their world by expressing themselves in a way that feels natural to them. Children do not always have words to communicate their struggles and can become overwhelmed by big emotions. As a Registered Play Therapist, I strive to give voice to these challenges and support caregivers in navigating the sometimes difficult and very important job of parenting.
