While EMDR therapy is my primary treatment approach for individuals, or SPACE for families, modalities used vary by client.
The focus of sessions is non-judgmental learning about oneself and the world around you. I am an empathetic and open-minded clinician, striving to meet my clients where they are, build trust, and maintain a safe environment. I am experienced and passionate about working with teens and adults with various forms of trauma, and understanding how this trauma is expressed through challenges such as anxiety, depression, personality disorders, addiction, etc. I additionally utilize SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) for families impacted by anxiety and OCD.

I find EMDR very effective, a therapy specific to healing painful life experiences, and have been using it in my practice for 20 years.
I bring over twenty-five years of experience to my therapy practice, and have helped clients achieve life-changing results. I provide effective therapy services to those who have been affected by painful life experiences--large and small, recent and long ago. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, losses, or stress, we now know that painful life experiences are what underlie most symptoms that have been labeled as mental health disorders. I ask what happened to you, since our beliefs about ourselves are affected by trauma, and by the messages that significant people in our lives send us with their words and behaviors.

You're troubled and don't know the way out. The strategies you may have tried--addictions, ruminating, blaming others or yourself, and secrecy--don't hold the answers and increase your suffering. I would be happy to talk with you about your situation and explore how therapy could help you find the way out. I understand about addiction, trauma, and the difficulty of feeling safe and learning to trust again. I can help you take charge of your life and solve problems so that you can cultivate happiness from within and create a better life for yourself.

I'm a Certified Complex Trauma Professional (CCTP-II), trained in EMDR and EAET, with a background in treatment of substance use disorders, recent and complex trauma, grief/loss, and exploration of identity and personal meaning.
Therapy is most meaningful when you have a clear understanding of the work being done, and can see how a specific approach aligns with your values and goals. Since there are no one-size-fits-all solutions, we'll try and track approaches tailored to your individual needs, keep the ones that help, and avoid painful repetition of strategies that don't help. Together, we will aim to build a process that works, and move at a mutually agreed upon pace and direction toward clarity, understanding, and change.

My work is rooted in evidenced-based practices such as EMDR, Acceptance & Commitment therapy, DBT, and Internal family systems while integrating somatic-focused tools (breathwork, movement, etc.
It can be really challenging to navigate an ever-changing world, especially if we enter each season struggling to carry the weight of the past. We learn survival strategies that are often hard to unlearn, and it can feel like we will always be stuck in our same old patterns of suffering. I offer non-judgmental support to people who want to find more aliveness in their minds and bodies. Through this partnership, we aim to build your capacity to feel and deal with emotions in kind yet effective ways, and develop compassionate habits that can lead to self trust. In doing so, we can create more room for ease, meaning, and joy.

I utilize a variety of evidence based practices such as DBT, EMDR, and Progressive Counting that can assist you in meeting your treatment needs and goals.
Beginning therapy can be both an incredibly challenging and rewarding experience. It takes a tremendous amount of courage to seek out services and I commend you for making it this far! By starting therapy, you are choosing to address, reflect, and learn ways to challenge unhelpful patterns that no longer serve you in living your most fulfilling life. Together, we can work to increase awareness of current stressors, learn how your past experiences have shaped who you are today, and to more efficiently cope with the emotions, thoughts, and behaviors that often contribute to feeling distress.

Talk therapy and EMDR are often effective.
I offer informed therapy for people emerging or waking up from high demand groups and coercive relationships of all kinds. You will not spend months teaching your therapist about the way coercive groups promote isolation and fear. We can deal with the long-term effects of religious, cult or domestic violence indoctrination in how we think about the world and about ourselves.

I have been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and can use that to work with clients who are suffering from past trauma.
I work with clients who are struggling with overcoming past trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship distress or work stress. Many times it can be easy to stuff feelings associated with any of these stressors, only to have these issues come back and be more intense. I like to assist clients with finding ways to process through their stressors, trauma, anxiety and depression, while learning healthy coping skills to manage stressors in the future so that you can feel more at peace and a sense of calm. With relationship distress I work with clients on effective communication and processing through emotions.

I am a fully EMDRIA accredited trained Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist.
Life’s challenges can alter our perception of ourselves, others, and the world we live in. We can lose sight of our strengths and abilities and we often put others needs before our own. When we disconnect from our needs and desires, we in turn feel disconnected from ourselves and others. Through therapy, we can learn to reconnect to the parts of ourselves we have neglected and learn to prioritize our needs and wants. I aim to provide a warm and non-judgmental space that allows for growth as well as relief from the burdens you are carrying each day.

EMDR Therapists
Who is EMDR for?
EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.
Why do people need EMDR?
People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.
What problems does EMDR treat?
First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.
What happens in EMDR therapy?
First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
