I offer a number of interventions based on the specific goals and needs of each person such as dialectical behavior therapy or DBT, cognitive behavioral therapy or CBT, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, most commonly known as EMDR, cognitive processing therapy or CPT for PTSD, somatic experiencing, and mindfulness practices.
People come to therapy for all kinds of reasons. When I initially meet with people and ask "what brings you in?" they often say "I'm feeling stuck, stressed, angry, in my head, can't sleep, or having trouble with relationships." If you've been feeling any of these things, you're not alone and I commend you for even considering therapy. It's not an easy step to take, but one that's well worth it because things can get better. I'm a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working with people who face challenges related to anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, addiction, and attention and concentration.

I am certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and specialize in the treatment of sexual trauma.
I'm a highly trained, intensely curious therapist - as comfortable with long stories as I am with total silence. I pay attention - with kindness, compassion and humor. Whoever you are, it's most likely true that you long for something, anything, to change. How on earth is this going to happen? It starts with curiosity - both yours and mine. You may come alone or with your partner. I am certified in evidence-based therapies for individuals and couples with trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship stress, and all of life's transitions.

I use a range of therapeutic modalities, including CBT, Psychodynamic, Mindfulness-Based, Trauma (EMDR) and Solution- Focused Therapy to help my clients work through their challenges and achieve their goals.
Therapy is a powerful tool for reflection and change. Whether working with children, teens, or adults, my approach is collaborative and goal-oriented. Sometimes we become stuck in painful or unsatisfying ways of being and need a safe space to learn about ourselves, heal, and grow. Issues I commonly work with include behavioral concerns, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, anxiety, depression, and trauma. I work with clients to understand the impact of past experiences on the present, but also focus on the here-and-now in session and incorporate breathing and meditation practices to cope with everyday stress.

I am experienced working with clients who struggle with trauma recovery, gender dysphoria, neurodivergency, poly/CNM relationships, sexuality, substance use, oppression, disordered eating, depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and grief.

I use experiential, relational, attachment-focused, neuroscience-supported, and trauma-informed approaches, including EMDR and AEDP.
The way I see it, the goal of therapy is to bolster you so that you can maneuver whatever life brings your way. Depression, anxiety, and trauma all block our capacity to experience the wide range of emotions that give life it's vitality. As your therapist, I will be a secure and safe support as we explore patterns in your emotions and relationships, I will encourage you to experience life in a present-focused and embodied manner, and I will help to foster the growth of your natural strengths and resiliencies. Ultimately, I want to help my clients to reclaim their unique identity and to become better friends to themselves.

Using evidence-based, trauma-informed modalities, such as EMDR, and attachment-based approaches, I help adults identify negative core beliefs they may hold about themselves so they can replace them with more reality-based perspectives and insights.
What’s keeping you from living the life you envision? Let’s figure that out together. Everyone can benefit from counseling to get through a rough time, a life transition, relationship difficulties or a break-up, a job loss or big promotion, present and past traumas, family conflict, aging, imposter syndrome, self-doubt, difficulty with boundaries, and more. If you’re willing to uncover what's getting in your way, I can help you break through barriers, let go of what weighs you down, develop better coping skills, tap into your strengths, and live more authentically.

I also utilize other modalities: EMDR, an approach that allows the brain to re-process traumatic experience; Emotional Freedom Techniques, Health Coaching and Meditation & Mindfulness instruction.
I am an experienced clinician and have treated a wide range of life problems. I utilize psychoanalytically informed techniques to understand an individual's unique experience of life. Being deeply understood is a lifelong need, as well as an important step along the road to change. As well, being challenged in a productive way is integral to growth. I approach the work from both of these perspectives.

I take an integrative, holistic approach to therapy, incorporating modalities such as EMDR, IFS, somatic therapies, and CBT, as well as elements of mindfulness, self-compassion, and attachment theory.
As a trauma-informed, strengths-based therapist, I don’t believe in pathologizing or labeling clients. You aren’t broken or bad; rather, you may have learned to protect and care for yourself in ways that no longer serve you. Therapy can help shed light on these patterns, and with awareness comes choice – once we’re able to identify and understand our thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, we can begin to transform them for the better. Together, you and I can uncover what lies at the root of your issues and explore new strategies for creating positive change.

I use psychodynamic theories, EMDR, and parts work (IFS) for trauma processing and grief work, and cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavioral therapy for goals and changes.
Hello and welcome! In my practice, therapy serves two critical functions. Firstly, it is a scientific approach to mental health, addressing challenges through insights and targeted goals for enhanced functioning and well-being. Secondly, it embodies a humanitarian mission, much like education, by nurturing your curiosity and deepening your connection with self and others. I believe in a balanced approach that combines these aspects to not only improve your mental health but also to enrich your life with emotional literacy.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
