I also support clients with a trauma informed mindfulness, interpersonal skills, CBT and EMDR.
Depression, Anxiety, and Stress sometimes you might feel that is is your baseline, and you should just get used to living with those feelings. You don't have to just accept your feelings, but you can actually experience emotional healing. My goal as a therapist is to support you to move to a place where you are loving the life that you live. I have extensive experience doing community based trauma healing work in NYC with LGBTQ populations, immigrants, and hospital based mental health therapy.

I frequently use EMDR (an evidenced-based treatment) to help clients feeling "stuck," anxious, or looking to resolve trauma or painful relationship patterns.
I am a Queer-identified therapist with over 20 years of experience working with diverse Transgender, Queer, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Gay identified individuals. My style is warm, active, and authentic. Starting therapy is hard, so my priority in early sessions is for you to feel relaxed, understood, and comfortable. Your laughter and questions are welcomed. With a background in LGBTQ+ public health, I am sensitive to the challenges and stressors that come with living outside cisgender/hetero norms. I also value subjugated knowledge - the wisdom we possess from not fitting into the dominant culture.

I enjoy working with other creatives! Therapy is not one size fits all - some modalities I use are psychoeducation, solution-focused, EMDR, cognitive-behavioral, ACT, psychodynamic, and expressive arts therapy.
Are you struggling with worry, overwhelm, and stress? Are you feeling limited or stuck in life? When personal exploration is supported and encouraged, we decide who we are and how we want to live our lives. I provide a therapeutic space that is compassionate and engaging so that you can gain insight and uncover new paths forward. I aim to help you to learn and grow from the past to live an intentional and empowered life in the present. My work emphasizes developing both practical tools to help you in the short-term and deeper healing/trauma work.

I use modalities like talk therapy, parts work, EMDR, and somatic techniques that help you get in the body for deep - cellular level change.
I help highly sensitive women stop feeling resentful and start reclaiming ease and authenticity in their relationships. If that sounds like you, you're probably ready to speak your mind without fear and connect with your most important relationships, but you keep hearing this little voice that says “it’s not important”, “but they’ll be mad!”, “doing it myself is just easier”, “you’re not worth that”, and “what will they think of me!?”. You want to feel less overwhelmed, overworked, and burdened. You want to feel joy and connected in your partnership.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
