In trauma work, I include EMDR and cognitive-focused therapies into a wholistic approach, and for couples work I integrate emotionally-focused therapy and Gottman methods.
Everyone faces challenges in life, and at some point we all need help. My approach to counseling provides a supportive, growth-oriented professional relationship. I help you access your own strengths and resources in order to cope with overwhelming problems, as well as teaching new skills that can add new dimensions to your ability to heal, grow, and change. Recognizing this, I seek to create an individualized approach to helping your with your problems. While each case is unique, it is also important to use evidence-based treatment approaches. I use a wholistic approach that takes mind, body, and soul into consideration.

I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and attachment wounds, and I have training in trauma-focused therapies like EMDR, CPT and mind-body approaches.
I’m so glad you’re here. Making the decision to reach out for help takes tremendous courage and vulnerability. Great job on taking this first step. Maybe you're here because you're struggling with recurring anxiety, depression, or relationship challenges. Or maybe you've tried therapy before and it helped briefly, but you found yourself repeating the same patterns shortly after. If you're ready to do the deep work to uncover and heal the root cause of your distress so that you see lasting change in your life, I'd be honored to support you on this journey.

I have extensive training and experience in trauma including EMDR, SSP, and Embodied Recovery.
My practice as a clinician focuses on eating disorders/disordered eating, perinatal mental health, and helping individuals who identify as "highly sensitive." Clients typically come to me wanting to heal their relationship with food and their body and understand their sensitivities to overstimulation and anxiety. I help my clients begin to notice the ways in which their past experiences impact their current experience of safety and dysregulation.

Sometimes, you even feel disconnected from yourself. You hope to reconnect with yourself, have deeper connections to others, and a overall sense of stability and safety that maybe you havent experienced. You hope to start to explore deeply rooted narratives, struggles, and live a fulfilling, enriching life.

When we experience trauma, we are often left feeling alone, misunderstood, invisible, and unsafe, even within ourselves. Through the process of therapy, we can regain hope, connection, safety, and understanding of ourselves and others. I use wide-range of evidenced-based modalities, from psychodynamic and CBT to EMDR and somatic therapies to decrease the emotional reactivity, tension, and isolation that trauma can create. Regardless of our trauma histories, our modern world can contribute to feelings of disconnection, dissatisfaction, and uncertainty about our worth and our purpose.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
