With my training in both play therapy & EMDR, I use creative techniques to reach clients who struggle in traditional talk therapy.
Is your child or teen struggling with feeling worried, sad or angry? Are they struggling to adjust to and cope with stressors in their lives? Are you unsure as to how to help them? I would feel privileged to assist your child on their journey to building emotional balance. As a registered play therapist, I utilize both directive and non-directive play and creative therapy techniques, allowing clients the ability to express their difficult emotions, struggles, past traumas, and ultimately their strengths and coping skills.

My approach to treatment is integrated as I use numerous evidence-based practices such as CBT and EMDR to address the root cause.
Taking the steps to locate and secure a therapist are not easy. You’ve probably been through some tough challenges that have brought you to this place today. However, you don’t have to navigate the hardships of life on your own. Allow me to help you build the skills you need to tap into your own resilience and create lasting changes!

I love creating a therapeutic space where people feel heard and accepted. My favorite part of my work is helping people understand themselves and their reactions so they can more fully embrace who they are. I also enjoy giving people practical tools to help them regulate their nervous system and feel less stressed. I am EMDR trained and Heart Math certified. As part of the Wellness Collective, you can have the ultimate self care day and enjoy a yoga class, facial, or acupuncture before or after therapy.

I support people who are experiencing symptoms of chronic stress and trauma by utilizing EMDR and somatic work.
I take a person-centered approach where I provide an open and compassionate space for all. I believe that counseling is a collaborative process, so I hope to involve individuals in their goals and personal growth. In addition, I will outline approaches and strategies we can implement in session. I hope to provide individuals with the tools to overcome life difficulties with greater ease and self-awareness. I like to celebrate growth, regardless of whether they are big or small wins!

I have utilized EMDR (as well as other methods) to treat trauma for most of my career, and have more recently added Internal Family Systems in helping clients move forward.
Do things feel overwhelming right now? If so, good for you for reaching out for help. You are taking action to live better. With over thirty years of practice, I have worked with hundreds of clients, moving from immobilized to energized toward living more satisfied lives. Whether your current challenge is internal, like symptoms of depression or anxiety, or external, such as relationship or job stress, we can work together to make it better. I have a particular interest in working together with folks who are trying to put their past behind them.

I use a base of somatic, attachment, EMDR, and IFS with most clients.
I want to commend you on taking the first step in this journey and I am honored to walk this path with you. It takes courage to look at yourself and explore patterns that have not been working for you and challenging yourself to create new patterns for your future. My practice is in helping people change ineffective relationship patterns, old beliefs, and unhealthy behaviors. I encourage all clients to get to the core of the underlying issues, while focusing on new ways of living. I believe in helping you get in touch with emotions and your body, so you can manage symptoms and enjoy a more peaceful, joyful, and productive life.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
