I also utilize EMDR to help you integrate your experiences and emotions within your mind and body as well as to process through hurts and painful beliefs.
I came into this work through my own experiences with both trauma and healing. By engaging in therapy, I began to experience the freedom and hope that came with facing and owning all the parts of my story rather than living within the context of fear and survival strategies that no longer served me. I would be honored to offer support and walk alongside you as you develop understanding and self-compassion, and seek to experience the discovery of freedom and hope for yourself.

(I am an EMDR Certified Therapist, a Certified First Responder Counselor, a 500 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher, and a Reiki Master.
Do you feel like you've never fully been able to put the past behind you, no matter how hard you've tried? Perhaps you find yourself making the same mistakes over and over or inadvertently repeating self-destructive behaviors, reacting in a way that doesn't fit with how you want to behave in your adult life. Or maybe you even have nightmares or memories that pop up on their own that feel as awful as it did the day that it happened. Do you ever feel worthless, ashamed, powerless, unsafe, or not good enough? If any of this feels true, you're not alone. I've worked with clients that experience this and more for the past 15 years.

Through EMDR therapy, you have the opportunity to work through trauma, reduce negative thinking and release the heavy energy associated with traumatic memories.
Do you find yourself haunted by nightmares and distressing flashbacks of difficult experiences from your past? You may have endured childhood abuse or neglect, suffered the loss of a loved one in a traumatic manner, or are struggling to move on from an unhealthy relationship, making it challenging for you to have a fulfilling love life. If any of these experiences resonate with you, please know you are not alone. Having supported numerous individuals facing similar challenges, I understand the weight and impact of these experiences. However, there is hope and a way forward. You don’t have to continue to be haunted by past traumas.

My specialties include trauma-informed nervous-system based therapy, behavior interventions, internal family systems (ifs), somatic therapy, EMDR, and ACT.
Despite having stressful experiences, you are high-functioning. You go to work, you pay your bills, you have meaningful relationships, and on paper, you seem 'fine' from the outside. Inside, you are thinking of the worst case scenario or experiencing an overwhelming amount of thoughts and feelings that "just won't go away". You don't feel great, have unprocessed trauma, and you want to start feeling better. You want to move beyond tolerating trauma and stress, and feel good emotionally and physically. From a nervous system perspective using trauma-therapies I want to empower you in your healing, I know you can feel better.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
