As a Social Worker since 1974 I have learned that people in trouble need help, not judgment and directives. Most people are not fully aware of the strengths they have and I have had the pleasure of helping people rediscover and use their strengths. I am most comfortable using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but other systems have influenced me: Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance/Self-Regulation/Competence (ARC). While theory is important, though, when the client comes in I need an open mind and heart to meet and appreciate the person coming for help.
