Since 2013, I have been serving clients struggling with trauma, PTSD, addiction, relationship/family conflict, depression, and anxiety. Therapy is a journey into yourself. It is choosing to step out of your comfort zone into an uncomfortable place in order to grow and heal. When we face and process our feelings and emotions, they become less overwhelming and painful. I am trauma-focused and see therapy through a lens of trauma, which is on a spectrum. I use traditional talk therapy, IFS (Internal Family Systems), EMDR, CBT, Hypnotherapy, and somatic approaches. I provide individual, couples, family, and group therapy.

My goal as a therapist is to provide a warm, affirming space to help you heal and embrace your most authentic self. My work draws from trauma-informed, feminist, and body-liberated ideologies to create space that facilitates healing from trauma, exploration of identity, and finding freedom from limiting thoughts and beliefs. When depression and anxiety do set in, I've learned Mindfulness and CBT practices that can reduce those effects which I look forward to teaching you.

Adjustments happen often on our journey in life. Adjusting to situations or circumstances can be challenging. Grief, trauma, depression, suicidal ideation, homicidal ideation, anxiety or panic disorder, substance use, alcohol use, sexual orientation, women’s issues, anger, spiritual or religious afflictions, teenage stressors, child behavior concerns, military transitions, and veteran support are examples that effect our ability to have an even adjustment.

Hi, I'm Melanie Storrusten, LCSW. At Align Wellness, we work in modalities that utilize the mind-body connection to access healing at deeper levels.
