I am trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, as well as Restoration Therapy for couples.
Unresolved relational issues. Past trauma that has begun affecting your normal routine. Marriage is going through a hard time. Family life is full of stress and conflict. Anxiety keeps growing and becoming more intense. These are all part of being human and being in relationship, and it’s OK to ask for help in the midst of them.

Have you ever felt like some parts of life are going well while others need more attention? Sometimes, it can be things that have lingered in the back of our mind for a while that unknowingly, are keeping us stuck and unable to grow. Living a full life is less about will power and more about having the skills to know what you need in any given moment. I primarily work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, depression, relationships, unresolved trauma, and life transitions. EMDR is a great tool that helps process deeper rooted issues to help find resolve.

I often utilize an eclectic approach, blending various therapeutic modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, to bring lasting growth.
I do believe that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. I bring years of experience working with adolescent and adult individuals struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD), eating disorders, anxiety/depression, grief, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD).

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, so I am trained in various modalities: EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), CBT, ACT, DBT and mindfulness and meditation.
Life can definitely go sideways; I’m here to help you right what’s gone wrong. I’m probably not your typical therapist. I’m a lawyer, a mother and a mid-life divorce survivor. I’m transparent and a little unorthodox at times. You will never wonder if you are sitting with a real person. We will laugh, we may cry, and I won't mind if you drop an f-bomb or two. I will never judge you or presume to know more about you than you know yourself. Your story matters; I want to know how you show up in your life and how your history and experience coalesced to bring you here. I will not waste your time chatting; we have work to do.

While I use a variety of therapeutic techniques, I specialize in using EMDR to help clients to overcome the effects of trauma, whether "big T" trauma, like being in a car accident, or "little t" trauma, like being bullied.
Do you feel like an imposter? Does it feel like everyone else got a rulebook that you didn't? Are you trying to overcome the effects of trauma, whether from a major life event, or from many smaller things throughout your life that have eaten away at your self-esteem? I'm guessing that you have many negative beliefs about yourself that you know, logically, aren't true. It's really hard to turn that logic into true belief about your worth as a human being, though. I can help you to go from just knowing in your head that you're worthy of love and a fulfilling life to truly believing it deep down. That makes a huge difference!

I am EMDR-trained and implement a trauma-informed approach to help understand the impact of adversity and the connection between past life experiences and current emotions, thoughts/beliefs, symptoms, and behavior patterns, to enhance your self-awareness, increase your capacity for resilience, and to enrich the experiences and quality of a life worth living.
Fortitude can be cultivated through adversity; and while life experiences are chapters in our story, they do not define who we are or how the story must end. The passion I have for reflecting light and empowering strength in others is rooted in my personal story and testimony of resilience despite adversity. I have witnessed and experienced the power, meaning, and value of commitment to growth and healing and I firmly believe in the therapeutic process and its results. We all deserve the opportunity to see a reflection of our inner strengths and experience a sense of empowerment for personal growth and healing.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
