As a trained trauma therapist, I use attachment-focused EMDR and TRM (Trauma Resiliency Model) to address the symptoms of single event as well as developmental trauma.
I'm happy you're here. It takes courage to seek out a perspective that can transform and empower you. When we allow ourselves the time to connect with our bodies, thoughts, feelings, and beliefs, we can heal and release what no longer serves; while at the same time strengthening what is true. Everything you are feeling serves a purpose. It is useful information. Symptoms such as: anxiety, depression, addiction, or relationship challenges are all trying to tell you something. You need some attention and we can all benefit from positive, focused attention where we need it.

I use modalities such as attachment-focused EMDR and IFS which can help us open doors our cognitive minds don't see.
I love to work with people who are motivated to change. You might not know exactly what needs to change, but perhaps you have a vague feeling something better is out there. In my experience, new motivation or working harder is rarely what is needed. What we usually do need is to find a way to have relationships that are as soft, safe and connected as possible.

My clinical approach draws from my extensive training in mind/body interventions such as EMDR, Somatic Experiencing, psychodynamic psychotherapy and mindfulness meditation.
I have a gentle, innovative, creative approach to therapy, where my goal is to connect clients to their own sense of resilience and their unique internal healing resources. I believe that each individual has an innate blueprint for health, which can be accessed through trusting the process, slowing down, and deepening the connection to oneself and the present moment.

Using a combination of Brainspotting, EMDR, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy and mindfulness, we will work together to ensure a return to the level of functioning that you want.
What do you want? Do you know? If you know, are you able to attain it? Do you struggle with relationships or the ability to make your life as way you want it? Successful living means functioning well in love and work. Irritability, rigidity, anxiety, addiction, lethargy, depression, self-doubt, self-attack: these are all symptoms that sap us of our right to act with the freedom we wish and the ability to engage emotionally with others, our work and ourselves.

Trauma Work: It can be incredibly frustrating and shame inducing when you find yourself repeating the same negative relationship patterns, behavioral and emotional responses, and maladaptive thought processes. My approach to trauma work is both holistic and central nervous system oriented; focusing on the brain, body, and behavior to see how your body’s trauma stress response is keeping you stuck in old narratives and patterns. I am trained in EMDR which is perfect for clients who do not want to rehash the details of trauma or who feel that they have not had success with traditional talk therapy.

I use a combination of insight oriented talk therapy, parts work, and EMDR therapy to support you in living your best life.
It's hard to identify what the problem is. On paper, life is pretty good, but you're not happy and it feels like you're going through the motions. Things have started to lose their meaning and it's getting harder to keep pushing through. You've lost your way and need some help finding yourself. I don't have answers for you, but I've been here before and know how to help you find what you're looking for. I have a lot of question to help you dig deeper into heart of the issue.

I am trained in EMDR and Brainspotting for the treatment of trauma, and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) for treatment resistant depression.
I assist individuals in overcoming their inner pain, and learning to face the challenges of life from a place of strength, compassion, and connection. As your ally in healing, I can help you process the emotions, memories and experiences that may underly your current suffering, so that you’re free to feel connected with yourself, with others, and with life. Sometimes past traumas become trapped in our bodies and minds, and we need help to feel safe in ourself and our relationships. My approach is based on these principles: Efficacy (I use Evidence Based modalities), collaboration, individualized care, and warm relational connection.

Psychotherapy is about transformation, but that takes commitment and courage. Having someone you trust to guide you through such a process can make all the difference. A genuine and supportive therapeutic relationship can help you take an honest look at your feelings, your thoughts about yourself, and your relationships with others, removing the barriers to a healthy and fulfilled life. With curiosity, we can address these obstacles together.

For as long as you can remember, you’ve felt different. You learned early on that there were parts of your identity that you had to hide. So, you built a façade to protect yourself. You felt safer pretending you were just like everybody else. As you’ve gotten older, you’ve learned to accept these parts of your identity more, but it still feels like you’re hiding. You still watch what you say and how you behave around certain people. And a part of you continues trying to conform to society’s expectations. You wish you could just be your authentic self without fear of judgment, but you don’t know how. You feel trapped and helpless.

"We all have our stuff." I heard a wise woman say this years ago. We might feel overwhelmed by all the expectations of life - of adulthood. We might be carrying the weight of something terrible that has happened in our lives. We might feel deeply alone - even when we are around other people. Maybe we feel out of control or lacking discipline, struggling to break habits that we know are bad for us. Whatever the case may be, you are not alone. Lots of people come to therapy. Lots of people feel much better after trying it.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
