I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems.
I work with individuals who are navigating grief and loss, eating disorders, anxiety, depression, life transitions and identity development. In therapy, I balance addressing symptoms and looking beyond the surface to address the underlying emotions driving behavioral and interpersonal patterns. By learning new adaptive coping strategies and gaining insight into the early development of current emotional wounds or maladaptive behaviors, clients can feel empowered to create positive change.

I am a certified EMDR therapist, and am also trained in IFS Level 1, ERP, etc.
My clients describe me as someone they feel safe and comfortable with, someone they feel they can trust, and someone that genuinely cares for them. Some of my clients describe themselves as perfectionists or high achievers; others identify as "people pleasers" struggling with setting healthy boundaries. Many of my clients have unhealed childhood wounds, and struggle with anxiety, depression or interpersonal relationship issues. It is my passion to help my clients figure out why they feel or react the way they do so that they can feel "good enough" about themselves on the inside and build healthier relationship with others.

People have always depended on you. You have responsibilities and goals and you don't have time to feel bad. Yet you wake up asking yourself, "Why does life feel so hard now?" You're overwhelmed, depressed and anxious or worn out. You push through your day, often coping in ways you know aren't healthy. You carry pain from your past and think, "I should be over this, why can't I just move on?" Some important relationships have grown very difficult and you'd love to fix them. You're tired of worrying about what other people think.

I work with adults, adolescents, and children. Often, as adults, we find ourselves stuck. You keep trying, yet things aren’t getting better. Usually, this means you have developed a self-limiting belief. Let’s talk. Together we can identify the root of the issue, develop new core beliefs, and create a plan to develop a more fulfilling life. Children and adolescents need a safe space and a person that accepts them for who they truly are, so they can express themselves openly. I focus on helping them see their true worth to enhance their growth and development, while teaching them skills to express emotions and cope with stressors.

Couples often say to me - "We can't seem to communicate anymore. Why are we having such a hard time understanding each other?" Have you ever felt like this in your relationship? I can help you make the changes necessary to feel connected again as well as create a more hopeful future. We will work with your thoughts, feelings, and actions, in order to recognize and then disrupt your negative cycles of conflict. Then together, we will create new opportunities for increasing closeness. Ultimately, you will see what is not "working", learn "why", and begin to apply new strategies to bring safety and security back to your relationship.

My approach is direct, relatable, and compassionate. It is a joy for me to create a warm, safe, environment for you to show up exactly as you are. We might be a good match if you: want a stronger sense of identity; struggle with people pleasing or connecting with your true wants and needs; are tired of navigating the scary, oppressive life experiences without support; feel burdened by painful past experiences; want to strengthen your intuition; or make peace with food and your body.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
