As a compassionate and direct therapist, I incorporate your values, unique life history, and the layers of your identity into the work you do. Your unique socioeconomic, cultural and family history are included and valued. Counseling is tailored to your and your family's needs and personal goals. My overall approach is holistic, focusing on the mind-body-spirit connection.
I use a variety of interventions including cognitive-behavioral, solution-focused, emotion-focused, psychoeducation and family-systems approaches to treat anxiety, depression, ADD/ADHD, trauma, substance use, relational and communication difficulties, anger, grief/loss and cultural adjustment issues.
I have over 12 years of experience in counseling. I received my Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy at Virginia Tech and majored in biology as an undergraduate. As a former high school science teacher, I also integrate my teaching experiences, as well as my love for biology into my work.
