My therapy style is empathetic, insightful, reflective, humorous and goal-affirming. I have always had a "quirky" sense of humor and I love that I can bring that into session with me. Sometimes being able to laugh or to see the absurdity of life shakes loose the obstacles and anxiety. My initial goal is to connect with you and your experiences in your world, ask questions, provide feedback, and use interventions to rebuild and reinforce your sense of self and your place in the universe.
Clients with anxiety or depression will benefit from learning a variety of coping skills and ways to reduce the distress of their symptoms. With trauma experiences and PTSD, I specialize in the effects of trauma in your daily living and educating about trauma responses and the resulting attachment issues that affect your interpersonal relationships.
Many times clients I see have had many years of feeling unheard or discounted. I start with an empathetic ear to give my clients a sense of relief and security. I consider myself a tourist in your world so you will have to show me how your experiences have shaped your environment. YOU are the expert into who you are...I provide perspective.
