I specialize in work with adolescents, adults and families, especially in transitional times such as adolescence, college, parenting (in all stages), menopause, significant loss and end of life. I also work with those struggling with trauma, anxiety and depression. I am an LCSW and also have a Master's of Arts in Teaching. I worked as a teacher, counselor and administrator with teenagers, teachers and parents in a school setting for 25 years and this work informs my clinical practice. I have also trained in grief therapy and somatic practice so I integrate work with the nervous system into the therapeutic process.
I use a strength's perspective and utilize relational and mindfulness-based approaches to focus on each person’s capacity for resilience and change while also honoring the pain involved in transition and loss. I connect talk and somatic awareness throughout the work and collaborate with clients continuously as part of our relationship.
We all experience challenging, stressful and potentially traumatic transitions throughout our lives. It is part of being human.
