I'm not the therapist you see in movies. I drink too much Diet Coke and my office has power recliners. I look you in the eye when I ask the hard questions and I cuss a little. Laughter and humor are tools for healing and sometimes I do that too loud. I know if I’m not real, I can’t expect you to be either. It's important to me that I create a space you can be exactly who you are. A place you can become better equipped to navigate a world that feels emotionally unsafe. Being confident and calm in your body is your birthright and I believe, wholeheartedly, in your ability to heal.
I specialize in treating chronic, attachment, and incidental trauma. The impact varies greatly between each person. My approach is individualized to you and your unique experiences. I chose the language Real Wellness Group because I wanted to encompass the real conversations and connections we make here. Real Wellness is formerly Ray-Kowalik Wellness Group.
Finding a therapist is a grueling and frustrating process. It's okay if we don't end up being a great fit for each other; I'll help you find someone who is. It is important to me that each person I meet receives care tailored to them individually. I use EMDR and clinical hypnosis in my practice when appropriate but I treat using more typical modalities too.

If you've found yourself wondering "why am I like this?" I have great news for you: There is a reason! Trauma isn't what happened to you and it isn't always a big incident. Trauma is the story you tell through internal dialogue that impacts the way you relate to people and your environment. If we can name it, we can tame it. Let's get curious.

Elizabeth is highly knowledgeable and skilled, but her most admirable trait is her relatability with clients. She is honest and compassionate, which allows her to challenge in a way that feels caring and helpful. I refer to her frequently for EMDR.

I am trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is an evidence-based therapy used to treat a wide variety of symptoms, especially symptoms resulting from trauma, phobias, anxiety, self image, addiction, grief, and more. Trauma can be incidental or chronic and can influence your relationships, mood, and quality of life in a big way. EMDR is different from talk therapy.
