About
Throughout my career, I have worked with diverse individuals, young adults, and families coping with issues such as anxiety, depression, grief, and substance abuse. I have a deep passion for children and families affected by trauma; I enjoy working with these individuals to celebrate strengths, repair attachment bonds, and to improve overall wellbeing. I now utilize play therapy to assist children and families dealing with life's stressors, changes and challenges.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Certified EMDR Practitioner, and a Registered Play Therapist. I believe in the powerful benefits of creativity and play to build self-esteem, process feelings and experiences, and promote healthy development in children and teens. Additionally, I am trained in Trauma-Focused CBT and Child Parent Relational Therapy.
Life can be demanding, for adults and for children! Play therapy helps children process feelings and experiences in a developmentally appropriate way. Play is a child's natural state of being and inherently promotes healing and growth. I believe Dr. Gary Landreth said it best when he identified that "Toys are children's words and play is their language."
