I enjoy working with people who would like to change their relationship with problems in their lives, and gain power over these problems and their effects. I have extensive training and experience working with people affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, and eating disorders. In addition, I meet with people who are affected by chronic medical conditions and
parent/teen conflict. I view people as having
ideas about how they would like to be in life and
in relationships; yet, problems can disconnect
people from their ideas and identities, influencing
them to act in unsatisfactory ways.
Domestic violence, sexual assault, and eating disorders all share the feature of trying to convince people of their unworthiness and failure. I work collaboratively with people to help them reconstruct and reclaim their identities. We give attention to ways people can resist problems.

I have lived with Type 1 diabetes for 35 years, and, thus, have inside knowledge of living with a chronic medical condition. Additionally, I have worked with physicians to help them find better ways to relate to their patients who have eating disorders in addition to diabetes.
