Announcement icon I have moved my full practice online or by phone for the duration of the pandemic. Please call to schedule!
Are you struggling to cope with overwhelming feelings and stressors? Is your sadness or anxiety interfering with your relationships, your career, your parenting, and/or your self-esteem? My approach offers you new opportunities to develop more constructive changes in your life so that you can feel happier and more comfortable with yourself. I offer individual and group treatment approaches that are practical, skill-based, and character changing. Through talking and implementing behavioral changes, we can collaborate together to work through habitual patterns and assist you to make more conscious and beneficial choices in all areas of your life.
I specialize in working through repetitive, character patterns that limit one's ability to cope effectively in family systems, intimate partnerships, work, and other interpersonal relationships. I treat disordered eating, self-harm, and impulsivity issues within both a Dialectical Behavior Therapy context and a talk therapy approach.
I enjoy working relationally with clients over time to assist them in feeling happier and healthier. I am interested in collaborating with clients to understand and work through the unconscious elements that interfere with their ability to enjoy their lives and to help them become more comfortable with their sense of self.

Elizabeth A Olson's Groups

DBT Groups for Adults and Young Adults

Group members learn to observe and accept their emotional and mental experiences through mindfulness practices. Individuals learn to tolerate difficult feelings without acting impulsively. Group members discuss difficulties and successes in their lives and explore strategies to solve problems. Through the use of coping skills, clients get along better with others by learning to more effectively ask for what they want and set healthy boundaries in their relationships. Group members learn to feel happier and enjoy their lives through building confidence and self-esteem. Denver DBT group for adults meets on Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:45.

Teen & Tween DBT Groups

Teens and Tweens are experiencing so much stress these days. In this group, kids bond with each other around how to develop more prosocial, constructive ways of managing social tensions, family challenges, academic pressures, and mood swings. In this supportive group, teens work on developing much better coping strategies to modulate their emotional responses. We focus on mindfulness/meditation techniques, distress tolerance to surf the urge of emotional ups and downs, and interpersonal effectiveness techniques to improve peer and family relationships. We include parents in the process of treatment to help kids practice the skills more often in their daily lives.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Group

This group offers clients the opportunity to develop more effective communication strategies and a deeper understanding of oneself in relationship to others. Through long term group relationships, members explore their unconscious, habitual patterns that interfere with their ability to connect well with others and practice new, more constructive ways of relating. Clients experience significant and meaningful changes in their lives outside of group through the shifts that occur in the group. These groups are held on Wednesday mornings, 7:05am - 8:30am and Thursdays from 5:10pm to 6:30pm.
