My name is Elida Stewart. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I use person-centered. positive psychology, and trauma-focused therapy to provide my clients with hope. Person-centered and positive psychology focus on clients strengths. EMDR is helpful in processing trauma. I also am skilled in exposure and response therapy to treat OCD. During the first session, I like to get to know my clients and allow them to ask me any questions they might have about me, my experience, and knowledge that pertains to the reason they are seeking treatment.
I focus primarily on women's issues including relationships, trauma history, weight struggles, empty-nester experiences, divorce, para-menopausal struggles, and attachment styles. My communication style is direct but compassionate. My clients feel cared about and supported.
I have always been interested in helping others. I participated in facilitating group sessions, I have volunteered as a lay-counselor, and found that I was a good listener years before I studied for counseling psychology. My goal is to break the stigma of mental health and provide a safe space to share deep feelings.
