I invite clients to explore their problems by working to create a safe, accepting environment. Believing that a problem holds the key to its solution, I try to help clients hear what they are saying and pay attention to the way they see things. Symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems often echo patterns or concerns we have carried for years. I encourage clients to say what they think and feel so they can accept where they are, see the possibility of change, and take the risk of acting different.

Life can be overwhelming, making you feel helpless or create anguishing for you/your relationships. You may find your mind racing with "what if" and a sense of anxiety or foreboding. Other times, something so significant or shocking happens that it completely changes how you view the world. You may struggle to communicate or understand your emotions. And it may not stop there, disruptions can ripple out and affect your friends, partner, spouse, or family. They may want to help, want to understand, but like you may not know where to start. Finding serenity in yourself or your relationship can be a daunting task.

I have had the privilege to work with individuals and families to overcome challenges from depression, anxiety, trauma and losses such like those experienced from sexual abuse or other events for more than 25 years. I believe in individually tailored treatment and interventions that are suited to meet your specific situation. I have extensive training background with trauma treatment interventions such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR.

I specialize working with children 12 and under. I am also a Certified Geriatric Counselor. I have spent many years working with trauma and crisis children using cognitive as well as play therapy skills. I am a Registered Play Therapist. I worked in Residential Treatment for three years and also worked for three years as the Social Services Coordinator for a nursing home.However I do work with adults as well. I do a parent training group to help parents have better relationshps with their children and help parents of Reactive Attachment Children to have more success with bonding and behaviors.

I provide services to individuals with an open heart and open mind. I base our work on where you are mentally and emotionally. Together we examine past traumas and current stressors to begin to understand why sometimes we get to a place we never thought we would be. With an emphasis on positive psychology and learning to identify and grow strengths, we begin the healing process. Because an essential aspect of therapy is rapport with your therapist, I spend time growing trust a deeper understanding with each client.
