Hello! Thank you for visiting with me! Fostering “next steps” in all areas of life defines my approach to counseling. My experience with childhood loss, a pervasive family history of depression and anxiety, and a recent diagnosis of ADHD have created opportunities to learn and grow personally and professionally. A Christian foundation grounds my decisions personally and professionally. I believe God works powerfully through relationships and promises to guide us.

Our mission is to provide the highest quality therapy and counseling in Lee's Summit, MO and the surrounding community. For issues ranging from anxiety and depression to family systems, and trauma. We believe in the power of relationships but understand that most of us have experienced obstacles in our lives that leave us hurting, isolated and alone. Our therapists are professionally certified to provide the best evidence-based care to support your self-exploration and mental health journey.

I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and learn. Friends and family are great support at times, but sometimes people can benefit from more. I often tell people therapy is a little bit like having a coach. It is someone to set goals with, someone to hold you accountable, someone to cheer you on and help you navigate the road map of life. It is my goal to help you get on the track that is best suited for you and your family, and come up with a plan to help you stay the course!

Most people are doing the best they can in life with the skills they have available. When life becomes overwhelming, unbearable, or unfulfilling, counseling can help you find & experience the joy & love you desire - even in the face of adversity. Counseling can be helpful when you are ready to make changes in your life and when you desire someone to journey with you to realize your best self. In our work together, we will collaborate to set goals that you want to achieve. For some, this may be a change in how you are thinking and feeling. For others, you might be ready to work to find deeper healing through processing your trauma.

Life presents challenges that are difficult to face alone, and trusting someone to hold your thoughts and emotions as sacred takes courage. I consider it an honor to walk with you, side by side, through your journey of transformation, healing and restoration. I seek to connect the body and the brain to dig deeper, at your pace. Creating and being a safe, inviting, warm and connected space is a passion of mine. It is such a privilege to bear witness to people reclaiming themselves and finding freedom from trauma!

For 30yrs, I have had the distinct privilege of working with hundreds of traumatized clients, couples, & fellow mental health professionals. Though many are shattered by grave emotional injuries, they find a way to rise up, face themselves and others, heal bravely, and transform their lives. With my clients, I hope to forge a close, safe, & collaborative relationship where clients may achieve significant emotional growth. To do so, clients & I identify treatment strategies that heal wounds, resolve symptoms, change behaviors, cultivate a strong voice, revive joy, engage authenticity, & support courageous, wholehearted living.

I believe identity is a critical part of self-understanding and healing. For this reason, I enjoy working with folks who are looking to explore their identities which might include sexuality, gender, race, religion, physical and mental ability, and roles in society. I am cognizant that our identities shape our personal and lived experiences in the world, and this continually impacts how and what we need to heal. I approach therapy from a non-religious standpoint, but have a deep interest in how religion impacts people, including ways that it can act as a source of trauma, while also acknowledging that it can be a source of support.

I see a variety of clients in various life situations and complexities, and I view the space you share with me an honor and privilege. I believe that my clients are looking for three things when they come into my office: 1-Encouragement that their pain or negative situation will lessen or end, 2-An opportunity to be heard and validated for their feelings and experiences, 3-A plan of action to improve their lives. Hello! As of July 31, 2022, I will be semi-retiring and will no longer be taking insurance or EAP referrals. I will only be accepting new clients on a self-pay basis. If you've got troubles, large or small, maybe I can help by listening, offering some alternative perspectives and possible solutions, coaching & encouraging you in making changes along the way. I have over 30 years of experience counseling people of all ages, life styles, cultural and ethnic backgrounds. I see individuals ages 18 and up.

Our practice focuses on sexual addiction - for the person with addiction, the partner and the couple. If you struggle with sex addiction (including pornography) you want someone who understands this addiction and has a plan for your recovery. We do. If you are the partner of a sex addict, it's important to take care of yourself and seek counsel from a compassionate therapist who understands your situation. Both the addict and the betrayed partner get better faster with a highly trained, highly focused supportive therapy team. Men and women have regained and even improved relationships through their work with us.
