Psychotherapy is much more than the removal of symptoms. I help individuals embrace their lives! I work with adults whose lives have been impacted by trauma. I also specialize in working with "seniors" experiencing the changes and challenges that often occur in later life. Finally, with four and a half decades in the mental health field, along with years of advanced education, I have gained an understanding of the unique challenges faced by individuals who experience issues relating to gender and substance abuse.

I work primarily with individual adults, ages 18+ who find themselves in need of extra support, whether due to sudden life changes or longer term issues.

Each one of us is capable of living a life of authenticity, connection, meaning, and joy. Yet so much can get in the way. Early on, we're taught to believe that something is wrong with us - we're the wrong size, the wrong gender/sexuality/race, have the wrong talents/goals. We're taught to strive for a limited vision of success. On top of these cultural pressures, many of us experience trauma such as emotional/physical abuse. Is it any wonder that so many people suffer from unhappiness, depression, anxiety, self-criticism, and disempowerment?

We all need someone to talk to when life hits us hard. We all dealt with the stresses of the Covid pandemic as best we could at the time. However, there are still many issues facing each one of us. I earned my Masters degree from East Central University in Oklahoma in 2006.

I work with adults and couples. I specialize in EMDR therapy, trauma recovery and mood disorders. I have significant experience working with grief and loss. I work with a variety of modalities that include CBT and mindfulness, as well as somatic and psychodynamic principles. Solution Focused counseling and Motivational Interviewing can also be helpful to client seeking more short term, immediate solutions. I am a person-centered therapist with a strength in acknowledging, supporting and respecting the unique view points and perspectives of each individual client.

I am licensed in CO and UT. I work with women and specialize in trauma recovery, EMDR therapy, somatic modalities and creative processes that help build a capacity to meet challenges as an opportunity for growth. I offer caring, compassionate support and focused guidance to help people trust their own inner wisdom and self-healing abilities and make lasting changes in their lives.

A lot of my clients struggle with everyday problems that affect many of us, but I specifically treat depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma, using Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, and a variety of approaches to talk therapy.

I believe we have everything we need to heal inside each one of us. I believe we all have the inherent strength and ability to thrive and will do so if given the right venue and treatment. The times when stress and traumas overwhelm us, we can forget our strengths, skills, and insight. We all deserve to have support to cultivate a safe and trusting space to reconnect with that innate inner wisdom. I seek to support individuals who have become overwhelmed in life and want to learn how to get unstuck, heal past pain, and embody their purpose to live an authentic, thriving life.

Most of my clients were either not sure about therapy, or they had already had a bad experience with therapy in the past. I pride myself on giving a different kind of experience. I’m real, I show up fully, (I tend to swear a lot unless you tell me not to) I will never talk down to you or presume what is best for you. You’re in charge. I have always been pulled towards topics that many in society do not want to talk about – sex, death, money, religion, addiction, and many others. I have seen what happens to individuals when they are left to struggle with these topics alone. Some feel guilt, fear, anxiety, depression, or just an overall sense that they are not allowed to be who they really are. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space for individuals or those in relationship to talk about these topics and feelings. I work with them to develop the tools to grow into being confident, unashamed, and authentically themselves.

I have often helped clients gain self-compassion, love, respect, clarity and confidence with the understanding it takes time and patience.
