Mental Wellness Counseling is a Northern Michigan Counseling Practice. Our counselors use their passion, experience and specialties to help clients heal from traumatic experiences, address symptoms related to anxiety and depression, help strengthen relationships and help guide you through the journey of finding the best version of yourself. When you call we try to make the best fit for you based on your needs and goals. We offer face to face and virtual sessions to best meet your needs. We now have 3 locations! Two in Traverse City and a new office in Manistee!

As a client-centered therapist, I believe you are the expert in your own life. I consider it to be a privilege and blessing to be a part of your journey to find fulfillment in your life. I work from a holistic framework, holding the central hypothesis that every person has the innate potential for personal awareness and growth. I strive to maintain the creative and dynamic process of therapy utilizing theory and interventions from multiple models of therapy. I am committed to creating a therapeutic environment based on collaboration, action-oriented interventions, skill building and honest, supportive feedback.

I love the work that I do in helping people learn how to find a fresh perspective on where they are, where they want to go, and how to get there. My gift is in my ability to easily connect with people and I create an environment where we work together to get results. In addition to face-to-face counseling, I am also a certified Life Coach and Tele-Counselor which means that we can work by phone/web, if needed. I have been practicing for over 20 years working with adults, couples, families and adolescents. I opened up Grace Counseling Professionals in an effort to bring counselors together to make a difference in our community.

Traverse Health Clinic provides behavioral health services to adults and adolescents ages 12 and up, even if you haven't established primary care with one of our medical providers. Our behavioral health services are provided by licensed therapists who are trained and qualified to help patients experiencing life stressors or mental health issues. Therapists are able to assist individuals in learning constructive ways to handle problems that interfere with everyday life. Services are usually time-limited and focused on specific goals that you, the patient, have identified.

I enjoy working with all age groups across the lifespan on a variety of issues and life challenges, but my specialty is working with adolescents, young adults, and adult woman. Much of my career has been spent working with at-risk youth, as well as leading skills training groups for adolescents and adults. As a working, professional, mother of four, I also truly identify with and enjoy helping women create a sense of balance between work and family.

My focus is women and adult individuals seeking support with trauma, substance use/addiction, co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief, loss, aging, relationships and co-dependence. Perceptions can and do change throughout our lives. It is never too late to begin again and there is always hope! Therapy serves as a vehicle to help you safely navigate your learning and personal growth, and to open doors to new possibilities. Together, through non-judgmental supportive guidance, we’ll develop skills that are the best fit to empower and enable the attainment of the life you desire!

Lauren believes that therapy is a tool to inspire self-growth. She specializes in helping individuals/couples cope with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationships issues, self harm, stress management and life transitions. Lauren has experience working in residential settings with youth who suffered trauma and adjudicated youth, home-based therapy, and private practice. She is also a registered yoga teacher (RYT 200) and offers mindfulness/movement components to the healing space through trauma informed yoga intervention, as well as DBT. She graduated from TCSPP in 2017 and is eager to help you thrive.

I'm an attachment-focused and trauma-informed psychotherapist with a curious mind, open heart, and hearty sense of humor. I believe that therapy should feel nourishing and meaningful - and the effects should be transformative. As a Narrative, Mindfulness, Sandtray, and IFS trained therapist, I helps clients “re-author” their lives — often using experiential and expressive arts activities or guided ‘parts’ exercises in order to make space for new ways of thinking and understanding.

Dani graduated with her masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Regis University in Denver, Colorado and then relocated to Traverse City shortly after. Dani also holds a masters degree in College Student Affairs from Eastern Illinois University. Dani works with older teens, young adults, and adults who are struggling with mood and anxiety disorders, life transitions, stress management, LGBTQIA+ Community, trauma/PTSD, and substance use disorders.
