I am a Geropsychologist which means I specialize with older adults. I provide forensic neuropsychological evaluations to assist with decision making capacity for the following domains: medical/financial consent, sexual consent, testamentary consent, driving, independent living. Evaluations/therapy also assist with diagnoses for dementia, depression, anxiety, and/or grief/loss. I work with family members/caregivers caring for those with dementia and perhaps behavioral challenges associated with the dementia. I currently work at the San Francisco VA Health Care System (SFVAHCS) for the Department of Geropsychiatry since 2007.

As an individual practitioner, I specialize in depression and anxiety with adults over 25. I also work with clients whose pets have passed, clients who have experienced religious abuse, gender identity, and relationships. I was clinical director of a 150-client workshop for dual-diagnosed schizophrenic and mentally challenged adults. Working twelve years in community service centers, I treated a broad range of psychological disorders and supervised a suicide hot line.

Through experience and my own research, I have developed an integrated approach to therapy. I begin by providing education around symptoms as well as developing collaborative goals in order to reduce severity of symptoms.

Patients have come in with multiple losses, have seen their loved ones hurt, injured or murdered, or have themselves been raped, or assaulted and have turned their lives around. Many clients cannot get over a loss of a husband, wife, or lover and have been able to move forward. I value a partnership. I value an open heart and emotional expression.
