As a Gerontologist, I specialize in issues regarding the aging process. I help older individuals and families adjust to life changes including adapting to retirement communities, assisted living or long-term care facilities, chronic illnesses, Parkinson's, Alzheimer’s/dementia, and terminal illnesses. Working collaboratively, I problem-solve with individuals and families who may be struggling with difficult life transitions. We work on addressing the emotional distress, anxiety and complicated family relationships surrounding helping aging loved ones, and facing challenges encountered in the decision-making process.

We treat depression, anxiety, grief and loss in older adults. We also have a therapist that specializes in working with victims of crime and trauma. We specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy. Sorry, no EMDR.

Crises and life transitions tend to spotlight where we need to grow. I have two typical clients. One is interested in ongoing psychotherapy and has often (though not necessarily) been in therapy before. The other is looking for shorter-term work to sort through a decision or transition. Depression, anxiety, "stuckness" or "emptiness" often inspire people to call. I work with adults of all backgrounds, but have niche experience with many chronic illnesses, including long COVID, MCAS, EDS and cancer; neurodiversity-affirming work with autism & ADHD; older adults & aging; and healthcare & mental health professionals.

In an effort to bridge the gaps which exist within the current mental health treatment and evaluation process, my psychiatrist partner and I have developed a comprehensive model which utilizes an interdisciplinary approach that combines the specialized work of psychology and psychiatry all in one agency. Prior to the development of our agency, my partner and I individually provided evaluation and treatment services in a variety of diverse settings throughout Maricopa County and abroad for over 10 years. I want to support those who are caring for loved, and not so loved ones, through their process of dementia. I know it's helpful to have a therapist who is familiar and experienced in this area of care. Don't be alone and frustrated, if you can help it. Therapy is a great way to provide support for yourself. Being open to healing old hurts if and when they come up is also very helpful. With over 30 years of experience, I am a clinician specializing in treating trauma caused by combat, physical, sexual and verbal abuse and other related causes. My model - The Nightingale Model for the Treatment of Trauma - is an eclectic approach which combines Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) with Hypnotherapy. This process puts you at the center with the ultimate goal of empowering you to take back control of your life. All approaches are unique based on something I call a Shared Action Plan (SAP).
