I have been treating patients in psychotherapy for over 35 years. Therapy offers people help towards change, change towards the life they want. Yet,for various reasons, this life has not been attainable. My approach is to offer patients a safe, supportive, understanding environment in which they can explore their hopes and fears and the obstacles that get in their way of having a fuller, richer life.
My training is in psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis which means that I view the therapeutic relationship as central to the change process and that I help patients to understand that their conflicts from the past affect the way they feel and act in the present.
By talking about all these issues patients can and do change. They are able to perceive themselves in a new way and then they will be freer to have a more meaningful and satisfactory life.
