Hello! Thank you for taking the time to read about me :) I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, with supervision abilities and certification in TF-CBT, in the state of Virginia. I have been a therapist for many years and I have had the pleasure of working with a variety of ages, ethnicities, orientations and personalities. I have worked in teletherapy, in an office setting, on a college campus, in the Emergency Room, in people's homes, in a middle school and in a correctional facility. I consider myself to be an eclectic holistic therapist, who works to help others discover balance between the mind, body and spirit.

People tend to come to counseling when they're dealing with something NEW or something old that has gotten BIGGER than they can handle on their own. Counseling is a private, safe place to process those life events and/or symptoms of mental health. With over 15 years of experience, I have helped many clients reach their goals. I have experience in all areas of mental health, life transitions, and relationship issues. By working together, we will identify challenges and develop healthy solutions to improve your present situation. The strategies and tools you learn will continue to benefit you even after counseling has ended.

If so, the clinical team at the Center for Relational Recovery (CRR) specializes in journeying with individuals and couples dealing with these issues to help them transform their lives and relationships. Sexual Addiction Treatment: Using a nationally recognized treatment model developed by Dr. Patrick Carnes, CRR takes clients through a task-based approach to recovery centered around relational connection and building healthy attachments with the self and others.

I specialize in helping clients cultivate coping skills and gain insight into issues to improve relationships, functioning and quality of life. I obtained my Master's Degree at Virginia Commonwealth University and have twenty years experience working in various mental health settings, including Loudoun County Mental Health (CSB), INOVA Health System and outpatient practice. Drawing on experience from individuals with serious mental illness, to those needing guidance, education and support for a wide variety of everyday issues, I tailor my clinical expertise to meet my clients where they are at to support recovery and meet goals.

Amy Hughes is an LPC and the founder of Connections4life Professional Therapy Services, PC. She is also a VA board approved supervisor of student interns and residents in counseling. In addition, she is trained in EMDR, EFT and is a level 2 Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. Connections4life offers customized care. We specialize in C-PTSD, PTSD, developmental trauma, anxiety & depression. We believe in the power of connections and that we are all capable of change and growth. Our Dual Diagnosis Recovery Program is for people struggling with both a mental health and drug/alcohol issue. We know that recovery does not always mean abstinence. My passion as a therapist is helping couples and families establish a safe, secure connection. This often involves healing a past injury. I have extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy, an empirically validated therapy based in attachment theory. I also work with individuals to help recover from depression and establish ways to manage anxiety. Parenting, including co-parenting for divorced couples is another passion of mine.

I work with adolescents and adults experiencing disordered eating and people seeking to make peace with food and their body. My work also includes people in relationships and individuals experiencing sexual problems, separation and divorce, infidelity, and co-parenting. I use a nonjudgemental, collaborative, person-centered approach to address the individual's needs. I work with individuals to help them recognize their own strengths and incorporate positive coping strategies as they move forward. I believe that creating trust and a little bit of humor go a long way in working through the struggles we face in life.

Are you or a loved one struggling with alcohol or drug use? Tried other treatments that didn't work? Not find 12-step meetings useful? Insight Recovery Centers is a licensed adult Intensive Outpatient Program. We are right for people who may be stepping down from a residential or detox program or need more than once a week therapy. Your program may include a combination of group, individual counseling, case management, and drug/alcohol testing. There is a step down Continuing Care group. If you are not ready to quit drinking, the Alcohol Moderation Program may be for you.
