Currently, I have over ten years of experience in both private practices, inpatient hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient groups. I am a Client-Centered Therapist using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and both can be modified depending on your individual needs. One of the therapeutic approaches I use is to assist you in nurturing your inner strengths that you may not be aware exist. Counseling is a collaborative process.

I help clients set personal goals for treatment. Every therapy session is interactive and engaged with the client to process personal growth. Client will achieve personal goals on their own time. I do apply evident-based and cognitive behavior to allow the client to process and provide self evaluation. The goal of every session is like the value of the postal stamp, "We will stick to it until we get there".

I specialize in counseling grief and loss from a unique experiential perspective, as I was widowed in my late thirties. This was my underlying motivation to return to graduate school in my early fifties to enter the counseling profession. I have a passion to help others through loss in the same way that I was helped. I also specialize in counseling for substance abuse and its effects on individuals and their loved ones, using both Twelve Step and cognitive behavioral approaches.

I am a therapist driven by a deep desire to help individuals in need of mental health support. Throughout life, we often find ourselves hesitant to seek the help we truly need, for various reasons. However, I firmly believe that it is never too late to ask for help and reaching out can be the best thing we can do for ourselves. I find immense satisfaction in providing therapy and experiencing the intrinsic motivation that comes with assisting others.

My goal is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space in an effort to empower those who are on a journey of healing and growth. I believe in individualized treatment with a person-centered lens and strive to assist clients in developing a treatment plan that supports realistic, achievable goals.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Heidi Johanson, LPC-S. I graduated with a MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I have had experience in working with clients who have depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD/Trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, Domestic violent relationships, substance use disorders and life adjustment stressors. My goal as a counselor is to find a tailored approach to meeting each client's specific needs to help uncover their strength. The years of experience I have in the behavioral health field has helped shaped me to be non judgmental.
