There is one thing certain in this life, and that is each and every one of us are all going to have to endure challenges throughout our lives. While we cannot control all of the curve balls life throws at us, we can develop skills to control our responses and establish healthy coping skills. This is where I hope to become part of your journey.

Lacking encouragement and motivation? Is your life filled with doubt? Daily struggles and hardships with decisions in life can result in stress, depression and anxiety. Counseling is the gateway that aids with navigating and understanding how to reach growth and assurance. For 10 years, I’ve supported those who struggle with daily stressors, mental illness and addictions. My experience ranges from working with teens to adults by using a variety of therapeutic techniques. With moral support being vital, I can walk with you through the process of unblocking those barriers that prevent you from growing mentally and spiritually.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) who believes in internal power and strength. It may feel like internal power and strength is non-existent because there are times when situations and circumstances seem to get the best of life. A way of escape may be to indulge in unhealthy habits (such as substances) that make things worse. This is where I can be of assistance because I work with individuals struggling with addictions (ages 18-65). If you need help in this area, therapy can be scary but courageous and a necessary step for you.

LPC (Texas) over ten years. My focus of therapy is cognitive (talk therapy). "I accept you for who you are and where you are at in your life, with no judgment." Currently, I have over ten years of experience in both private practices, inpatient hospitalization, and Intensive Outpatient groups. I am a Client-Centered Therapist using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, and both can be modified depending on your individual needs. One of the therapeutic approaches I use is to assist you in nurturing your inner strengths that you may not be aware exist. Counseling is a collaborative process.

I help clients set personal goals for treatment. Every therapy session is interactive and engaged with the client to process personal growth. Client will achieve personal goals on their own time. I do apply evident-based and cognitive behavior to allow the client to process and provide self evaluation. The goal of every session is like the value of the postal stamp, "We will stick to it until we get there".

There is no roadmap to guide us through life. When things happen, there is no set of instructions on how to emotionally navigate various situations. Let’s face it: adulting is not easy, no matter what age you are! Life can get overwhelming sometimes. Having someone to talk to during these difficult times of life’s stressors and transitions means you don’t have to carry the weight alone. Whether you are experiencing stress, emotional pain, relational struggles, or just need support, I am here to help.

You are not your diagnosis. I focus on wholistic treatment while providing individual and family therapy in order to understand the various aspects of your mental health. My goal is to help you understand your symptoms, and help you navigate through the obstacles that may arise to return your focus to living life. We will focus on your strengths, and how to use the coping skills I will teach you to resolve any conflict. We all need help from time to time, let me be the professional support you and your family need.

As a professional counselor, I believe in the power of each individual to overcome barriers that prevent their life pathway from taking a more positive direction. I am invested in creating a calm and safe haven where growth and improvement can occur. Using a person-centered approach requires understanding the perspective patients have about issues in their lives to foster open, honest communication within a therapeutic relationship. When people feel comfortable expressing their emotions, an effective counselor is able to gain knowledge of how that person views their problems.

I am a therapist driven by a deep desire to help individuals in need of mental health support. My ultimate goal is to guide them in resolving their issues and cultivating mindfulness about the impact these issues have on their mental health and overall wellbeing. Throughout life, we often find ourselves hesitant to seek the help we truly need, for various reasons. However, I firmly believe that it is never too late to ask for help and reaching out can be the best thing we can do for ourselves. I find immense satisfaction in providing therapy and experiencing the intrinsic motivation that comes with assisting others.

Making the decision to come to counseling can be a difficult one. I understand people face different challenges that stop them from moving forward in their lives. I am passionate about helping people with various issues including depression, anxiety, unresolved grief/loss, low self-esteem, substance use disorders, and complex trauma among many others. I believe in a patient approach and emphasize building a trusting relationship to help foster deeper reflection and personal accountability. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Heidi Johanson, LPC-S. I graduated with a MEd in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University. I have had experience in working with clients who have depression, anxiety, ADHD, PTSD/Trauma, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, Domestic violent relationships, substance use disorders and life adjustment stressors. My goal as a counselor is to find a tailored approach to meeting each client's specific needs to help uncover their strength. The years of experience I have in the behavioral health field has helped shaped me to be non judgmental.
