Mariana Carpio is a bilingual (Spanish, English) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with years of experience. She has a passion for helping children, teens, and young adults thrive in a complex world. Mariana specializes in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, behavioral issues (child therapy), domestic violence and/or intimate partner violence, grief, stress, parenting concerns, racial trauma, school issues, self-esteem issues, sexual abuse, other forms of traumatic experiences, including PTSD.

An important part in the therapy process is setting goals and helping create a wholesome conceptualization of the client. I take an eclectic approach as everyone is different in their own way.

I graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and the University of Mobile with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. It is my hope that people will take away from sessions feeling supported, cared for, listened to, not alone, comforted, encouraged, and with a spark of faith that it is ok to have the courage to hope again.

My practice goes beyond traditional "talk therapy" in that I believe in targeting the root of disturbances that have become frozen in the body through the use of biofeedback, EMDR, and Brainspotting modalities. Trauma is often weaved in and through the fabric of our lives. Many think of trauma as one large scale traumatic event. However, complex trauma is not always a single event. It could be a failed attachment to our care takers, experiencing abuse/neglect, multiple losses, shattered relationships, or the inability to protect ourselves emotionally with healthy boundaries. The most disturbing part of a trauma is not only the event itself, but how we perceived the event, and the internalized negative core beliefs about ourselves that developed.
