I'm Shaq Roberts, a licensed social worker with a passion for mental health and the needs of the LGBTQ+ and QPOC communities. As a Queer Person of Color, I have intentionally and specifically catered my education and work experience to match that of my life experience. Currently, I provide direct service through individual therapy, surgery letter assessments, and mental health assessments with Hearst Psychotherapy.

I am a counselor who understands how it feels to sit in front of a therapist, that is why compassion is important to me. Vulnerability can be difficult, but we can create a safe space so when you're ready, we can change the difficulties interfering with your wants. That is therapy, getting what you need to get what you want. For example, depression has different flavors, but it keeps us from engaging fully in life and/or losing focus on what our dreams are. Whatever you are seeking to make life better and better, I am here to help. In person sessions can be scheduled on a limited basis but Telehealth with be offered on going.

I am a Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts Therapist and Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. For more than 20 years, I have walked alongside Clients through Grief and Trauma in both Individual and Group Settings. I have experience working with all ages, although my focus currently is with Teen Girls and Women experiencing Anxiety, Depression, Grief, Trauma, Medical Illness, Anger/Stress Management, and Life Transitions.

People who seek help through the stresses and traumas of life instead of succumbing to them are the bravest people I know. Although therapy may not feel courageous, at some point, we all need the presence and compassionate care of someone committed to our healing process. This is my passion. I work with courageous people who choose to move toward wholeness while continuing to live and care for the responsibilities of their lives. A large part of my work is devoted to helping men and women work through traumatic experiences in the present and those remembered from the past.

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor with over ten years of clinical experience. I am passionate about providing people with space to share their story, and I am always working to fine-tune my ability to fully hear and respond to that story. My ultimate goal as a counselor is to help people move toward insight, authenticity, and connectedness.

As a Marine Corps veteran and spouse, and a parent, I understand life throws curve balls that we sometimes need help navigating. Counseling is a journey we take together as a team. I am committed to helping you improve your situation. I want the best for you. I want to help you obtain what you want to accomplish in counseling. I want to help you be happier and more satisfied with yourself and your life. Therapy is a process where you and I engage in conversation to help you resolve your problem/issue and move them forward. My job is not to fix you, but to guide you towards the goals you wish to achieve.

My desire is to help people navigate this crazy journey called life. I understand that there are ups and downs for everyone, and yet they look different for each of us. I want to come alongside you and help you heal from the wounds of life, grow into the best version of yourself possible, and to be successful on your journey. Taking the first step for your future may be scary, but the journey there doesn't have to be traversed alone. Individuals I have worked with have been dealing with struggles such as depression, anxiety, history of abuse and trauma, relationship conflicts, and life transitions such as education and careers.

I work with those struggling with adjustment, depression, anger, anxiety and relationship problems. I have a warm, calm, and accepting nature. My clients are provided with a safe, private and comfortable place to begin an inner journey toward healing and wellness.

Anxiety and depression is most common among mental illnesses however is considered as treatable. The good news is you don't have to live life weighed down in fear. The goal is to live life without letting life live you. This can be accomplished by freeing yourself from past trauma, recognizing who you are and realizing that you are worth having a successful, productive and mostly a joyful life. Yes, there can be freedom and joy in your journey. Joy comes from within (your gifts and talents) and are often covered up by fear and worry. When you decide to put anxiety and depression where they belong and make changes, joy will come.
