Mike Nichols, MRE, MFS, LMFT - The mission of Renovo Christian Counseling is to help bring renewal and restoration to your life and relationships. It is to partner with you to discover and apply practical and enduring solutions to the issues with which you struggle. Whatever the need that motivates you to seek counsel, I believe you can achieve healing, growth and change. It is my calling to help couples and individuals in that endeavor.

I believe that people heal through connection and relationships. I am passionate about helping clients work towards overall wellness. While using evidence-based practices, I incorporate a therapeutic bond with clients to help them on their healing journey. I strive to be present in each session with you and I believe in empowering you to take control of your life.   Each client is different and has diverse needs, therefore the approach I use for each client is unique to them. Meeting clients where they are and helping them achieve their personal goals is an essential part of healing.

I provide counseling and life enrichment services for teens, adults, families, couples, and groups. My office is a safe atmosphere welcoming diversity in culture, in sexual orientation, religion, and other factors of difference. Our lives can be wonderful, tragic, amazing, challenging and we go on many journeys and walk on many paths along the way. Sometimes we just need someone to talk to, bounce ideas off of, find peace and healing with or just explore what makes us tick. Allow me to be with you on these journeys of life.

My ideal client is anyone who is in need of help, wants to make a change, or interested in bettering their lives. Anyone looking for a therapist who is understanding, accepting, and cares about their overall forward progress.

I welcome clients of all genders. I respect that gender identity may not be the central issue, I also help you work on things such as anxiety and depression. I welcome clients who are working to better understand their gender identity or those seeking gender transition. I can help with related to gender, including social isolation and family issues. Hi! Im Karen, and I am an LCMHC, LCAS, ( 8 years ) in providing therapy for clients. I graduated from Lenoir Rhyne University, Hickory, North Carolina. I currently serve clients from ages 10-99 years old. So just as my slogan says I want to help you recover, rejuvenate, and replenish. Together we can work to build your resilience so that whatever you may be dealing with in life you won't get down and stay down you will learn the skills in sessions and be able to rejuvenate (the act of energizing, revitalizing) yourself and get back up.

I help people get their unhelpful thoughts out of their way. Your thoughts keep throwing useless “solutions” at you that never really work and sometimes even make things worse. Your mind may even come up with new problems that do not exist with thousands of “what if” scenarios - as if it’s getting paid by the minute to work against you. It can be frustrating and stressful to go through this same loop day after day. I get why you are ready to try something new. I can help you build the skills you need to respond to difficult thoughts in healthy and effective ways.

I want to help create a foundation for your life in which you can grow, prosper, and live the most fulfilling life possible. We often underestimate the amount of resilience and ability we have to overcome obstacles in our lives. Therapy can help you cultivate that resilience.

I liken my therapeutic approach to the Japanese artform of Kintsugi in which broken pieces of pottery are mended together by precious metals, creating an equally or even more beautiful creation than it was in its original state. As a philosophy, if an object has been damaged then it has more of a history and should, therefore, be celebrated and highlighted, rather than hidden or discarded. Just as the broken sections are embraced in Kintsugi I believe that the broken, flawed, imperfect pieces of our life can come together with the good experiences, to form an even more amazing and beautiful life.

I believe life needs to be fully experienced and enjoyed! Too often, the stresses and traumas of life prevent us from stepping into a full life. My goal is to create a welcoming environment where you can feel safe enough to start working on creating the life you dreamed of having and to develop the skills necessary for personal growth. Prior to becoming a counselor, I worked as as a Qualified Professional with individuals with developmental delays over a decade. I enjoyed assisting individuals with specific behavioral and life skill needs. I enjoy spending time with my son, riding horses and gardening.
