My theoretical approach to counseling is somewhat eclectic, but largely humanistic, existential, and integrative.
Often we seek therapy when our natural tools alone can't support us anymore. Maybe life has thrown something too big at us, or we have suffered silently for too long. I work collaboratively with clients to move towards personal growth, stress reduction and improved coping techniques. Through compassion and clinical tools I partner with clients to manage life transitions and navigate developmental processes. I work to create a safe, empowering space for my clients. It's an environment where I believe we are best positioned to access insight, strengthen our resilience, and build readiness for change.

I believe that each person is a complex and unique individual that is the expert in their own life, so I take a highly individualized eclectic approach with each client I see.
I enjoy working with adults and emerging adults on discovering and developing their individual identity. Often when we become ourselves, underlying traumas and other mental health issues are brought to light, so it is important to me to ensure that those issues are handled with care and compassion. Those that I work with strive to understand who they are in spite of the things that have happened to them so that they may live a truly happy life exactly as they were meant to, they just need a little assistance developing the skills to overcome current and future obstacles. For more info see my website empressclinicalservices.com

My diverse background enables me to be open-minded, eclectic, and creative in my approach to treatment, and to distinguish personal and mental health issues from cultural and societal ones.
My practice is multicultural, multilingual (Japanese, Spanish, and English), and multidisciplinary (as a former teacher). My approach is flexible and practical. I work with clients to identify major issues and develop treatment goals. Clients are empowered through access to reliable psycho-educational tools and materials to better prepare them to advocate for themselves and others. We then work together to (1) develop individual coping skills, and (2) cultivate social/environmental supports (e.g., linkage to support groups, strengthening of community or family ties). My goal is to enable clients to resolve issues/manage symptoms independently (without professional help) in future.

I'm an eclectic and flexible clinician, drawing from insight-oriented therapies to cognitive-behavioral methods.
I work with life transitions, grief, and spirituality. Maybe your sense of purpose or meaning has gone missing - maybe someone you know is no longer here, or perhaps something you thought was a certainty in your life - a job, a relationship, a friend, a pet, a community, your health or very life - is not so certain anymore. You don't know why or maybe even how. That's okay. We'll start there. We'll hold space together as we work collaboratively to build awareness, cultivate compassion toward your self no matter how your self shows up, and act toward your values and desires.

I have worked in many different contexts of practice, from inpatient psychiatric care to outpatient substance use with many diverse communities including the LGBTQIA community, youth and families, racial/ethnic minorities, and persons entering and leaving the federal prison system. I utilize an eclectic style including motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy in order to provide a safe and supportive place for clients to create change. I believe that it is important to assess each client's needs and provide either direct support or space for an individual to work on their own for short or long term care.

I use the evidence-based ACT therapy model as well as eclectic strategies from various models to best fit client needs.
Life is tough, in therapy we learn to deal with painful thoughts and feelings so we can enjoy the meaning and beauty in life. As a biracial therapist with a mixed cultural heritage, I aim to create a safe environment needed for change for people of all backgrounds and experiences. It takes a lot of courage to take that first step towards change, so I intend to acknowledge your vulnerability by meeting you where you are. I have extensive knowledge working with people of diverse ages, backgrounds, and presenting needs due to my experience working in community mental health.

My therapy style is eclectic and client-centered.
"There's no normal life that is free of pain. It's the very wrestling with our problems that can be the impetus for our growth"-- Fred Rogers Everyone has a story that shapes their life in many ways. It can be difficult to open up to a stranger about what is going on in your life, but it can also be very liberating to have another person to share your burdens. Whether for depression, anxiety, trauma or adjusting to life's challenges (and our changing world), counseling can offer insight and healing. It is a great privilege and joy for me to provide that space for people.

My approach is eclectic, drawing from a number of perspectives (Cognitive-Behavioral, Existential, Psychodynamic, and Evolutionary Psychology), as well as pragmatic and honest, focused on insight, meaning, and the ways in which our experiences shape our views of the relations between self and other, the world, and our place therein.
Stories have always fascinated me. They have the power to move us emotionally, to educate and instruct, to entertain us, and to cultivate true compassion and empathy through the act of sharing a story with another. They are also a powerful vehicle for how we perceive, interpret, define and live our lives, yet sometimes it can be easy to forget that we can be the authors of our story, not just a character proceeding along some previously determined narrative.

Eclectic Therapists
Many practitioners take an eclectic approach to therapy, drawing upon various aspects of cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic methods to create their own custom-made approach. Such therapists often work with their clients to create a treatment plan that encompasses different techniques to best address the client's particular problems and to appeal to their sensibility.
