I tend to work with a few different types of clients given my specializations. First, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety and/or depression. This can be adolescents, teens, or adults, and tend to be successful at ameliorating symptoms. Second, I work with families who find themselves struggling. There are various reasons for the struggle, but that is what we unpack and figure out how to best move forward to improve the well-being of all. Lastly, I help people better manage stress, this could be anyone, as we all experience times in life when our well-being suffers as we struggle to navigate a life transition.

With over 30 years helping people to have fulfilling lives and good relationships, I know that working on ourselves is the most important thing we can do. I am trained in Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy, employing a variety of tools as needed along the healing path.

Through mindfulness attention and somaticwareness, that which was previously "in the way" becomes our doorway to healing, clarity, peace, joy, and the ability to realize our personal and life goals.

I am acutely aware of how many people are suffering deeply now – people who are strong, intelligent, and creative, and yet find themselves struggling within their lives and disbelieving in themselves. Many of our psychological and emotional problems have been worsened over time by systemic and political practices, policies and institutions which also affect us spiritually. Because these systems aren’t self-aware, they don’t change quickly, and since they are part of the cause of our problems, they can’t help us heal. I listen to understand how to heal.

I became particularly interested in the spiritual and existential aspects of integrative approaches after serving many clients with grief work and having conversations about spirituality and death. So, I studied to become a death doula, also known as an end-of-life doula or death midwife, out of a desire to not only educate myself further but be able to better serve and serve and support individuals and families during one of life's most profound experiences. After the world collapsed into a pandemic, I've noticed an increase in clients wanting to talk more about the concept of death and mortality.

I specialize in a Mindfulness and Somatic/body based modality called Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS allows us to gently and safely reprocess old wounds, work on what is most important right now in your life, and help you return to your core natural state of connection, purpose and authenticity. It is deeper than traditional 'talk therapy', as it can get to the root of trauma and attachment wounding, often based in childhood difficulties that result in patterns of anxiety, depression, grief, and dissociation.

I believe that all people can benefit from therapy at one or multiple points in their lives. I enjoy working with adolescents and adults for individual and couple's therapy. Common presenting issues that I work with include depression, anxiety, relational conflict, and trauma. I am particularly passionate about working with young adults, trauma survivors, and new/expecting parents. I’m semi-retired, but accepting clients on the Alma website. I specialize in trauma and addiction and am LGBTQ-friendly. Once old wounds are identified, we can work on challenging old coping skills and beliefs that impede growth and personal happiness.
