I have worked as a Clinical Social Worker in a variety of settings for thirty years since receiving a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Michigan. I have been employed as a therapist in private practice for the past fifteen years. I treat a diverse client population of adults, adolescents, couples and families. I see individuals aged sixteen and up with phase of life issues, such as adjustment to young adulthood. I treat depression and other mood disorders, anxiety and panic disorders and relational problems.

I have over 40 years in the practice of Clinical Psychology, sex therapy, marital and family therapy. I work with both adolescents and adults on issues such as depression and anxiety, marital and relationship problems, loss and grieving, chronic illnesses, phase of life issues, addictions, gender and sexual identity issues, post traumatic stress disorder, and dissociative disorders. After leaving Penn State, I completed a Postdoctoral Internship in Clinical Psychology and went on to serve as Assistant Director of an addictions treatment program while completing a six year tenure as an Associate in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.

Having extensive experience, I use empirically supported therapies, and have treated a wide range of ages as well as the most serious disorders. It is my belief that salient therapy treats a client in 3 different directions: top-down (spiritual dimension), inside out (healing of memories), and outside-in (Cognitive-Behavioral and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). After a thorough assessment, I would identify with my client, determine problems on which to work, set appropriate goals, and determine the correct therapeutic intervention(s) to be used. Meeting those goals would be a therapeutic benchmark throughout the therapy.

I believe that people possess a deep and profound ability to overcome obstacles when provided with a supportive environment. I enjoy finding creative ways to reframe difficulties so individuals can access solutions that fit their lives. This often involves working with parents, families or other supportive communities so that deep and meaningful change can occur.

I am a clinical psychologist, parenting coach, author, and workshop leader, in practice for over 35 years. I am also a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Therapy works best as a collaborative relationship between therapist and client - a process that encourages personal growth, behavioral changes, and self-awareness. While offering my experience and perspective, I encourage an interactive, respectful, and engaged therapy process. I am currently offering individual, couples, and family therapy through teletherapy throughout PA and in PSYPACT authorized states.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and an Educator. I hold a Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology from LaSalle University and a Doctorate in Human Sexuality from Widener University. I maintain a private practice in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. I teach Clinical Counseling and Human Sexuality as an Adjunct Faculty member in LaSalle University's Graduate Psychology Program. I provide educational and clinical interventions in sexuality for parents, teachers and churches throughout the Philadelphia area.

I never forgot what it is like to be a teen, and I am a mother to 3 of my own. I also know grief, anxiety, and depression. I understand what is like to be out of the box and find a place in the world. I am unique, as are my techniques. I believe laughter should find its place even in the darkest places and weave humor wherever it may fit. I am also well versed in all methods, such as CBT, DBT, ACT, etc., but the connection between therapist and client is essential for growth.

It's hard navigating what’s happening in the world. You want the best possible education and experiences for your child, and that could mean putting them in situations that expose them to racism and classism early on. Being the only or one of few is hard! The reality is that this can be confusing for your child and they often lack the tools to handle these situations. The impact on their day to day images of themselves is massive. Their once bright eyes are a little dimmer. Their trust in peers and adults lessens. Your once confident child or teen is now self-conscious, anxious, and struggles to meet unfair standards.

In my work with adolescents, young adults and their parents, I am committed to providing individuals with the tools to realize their potential and separate themselves from the substances, behaviors and attitudes hindering their development and well-being. I provide a collaborative, respectful and empathic therapeutic context for addressing the personal issues and challenges that interfere with healthy functioning and a sense of personal competence. Using a strength-based approach, I specialize in helping young people develop the self-awareness and coping tools necessary for navigating a confusing and complicated time in their lives.
