We are a private practice made up of psychotherapists who work with children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. Lisa D'Acierno and her staff work to provide a safe nurturing, non-judgmental atmosphere focusing on the individual client's needs. She has been practicing for over 25 years. Our staff is experienced on children and adolescents with PTSD, ADHD, Asperger's/Autism Spectrum, Depression,Teen Issues, Anxiety Disorders, OCD, Family Struggles, and Trauma. We are a wonderful team of compassionate and caring professionals who share the same passion for helping others. We offer in-person and teletherapy sessions.

I am a clinical social worker skilled and experienced in providing individual, family and group therapy to adults, adolescents and children. My style is non judgmental and I am sensitive to the needs of each individual. I use techniques that are eclectic, drawing on cognitive, behavioral, dialectical, narrative, psychodynamic, positive and humanistic psychology. I utilize evidence-based practices to help you achieve lasting growth by tailoring an individual treatment approach. I also use Motivational Interviewing techniques to help you to achieve desired goals.

I have been a therapist for over 30 years. I work with people of all ages (except children under 18), dealing with depression, anxiety, and most other mental and/or emotional issues.

I am very fortunate to combine my three loves: people, psychology and dogs. Over the years my dogs have accompanied me to my office and have been of great therapeutic value and pleasure in their interaction with patients of all ages. Therapy is an exciting adventure in which therapist and patient agree to explore the patient's life, dreams, problems, fears, hopes and aspirations. As therapist it is my responsibility to guide: sometimes lead, share and always to jointly explore who the individual is. While everyones' therapy is different, therapy is the opportunity to pull ones' life together and develop the courage to change.

I have been practicing individual, couple, and group psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and adults for the past 37 years. After receiving my doctorate (Ph.D.) from Columbia University, I studied for many years at the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies, Adelphi University where I received my Postdoctoral Diploma in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. I am a licensed clinical social worker in New Jersey and New York. While I am skilled in treating the general clinical population, I also specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of patients struggling with more difficult issues, such as substance abuse, eating disorders, and severe personality disorders. Patients frequently describe me as warm, caring, and responsive.

I am passionately committed to supporting individuals and couples in their pursuit of more expansive community, creativity, connection, and adaptive habits toward relational intelligence and self growth. I recognize that people often have many different types of trauma in their lives. Trauma comes in all shapes and sizes and may be interpreted differently by each individual. Traumatic issues can range from bullying, loss of friendship, transitions of all types, to devastating life events. I have provided care to adolescents and adults suffering from emotional disturbances, as a result of trauma and loss. Subsequently these disturbances will interfere with school, work, and relationships and may ultimately prevent one from living a fulfilling life.

Thank you for your interest in my practice. I work primarily with older adolescents and adults who seek help in dealing with stress, challenging relationships and life transitions, including loss. I work collaboratively with my clients toward reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. I believe that within the context of a supportive therapy relationship individuals can develop insight into the roots of their struggles and effective strategies for change.
