Inevitably we all encounter profound disappointments and trauma in our life-time. The resulting pain which lingers, may cause physical or emotional symptoms such as confusion, excessive anger, fear, anxiety, and/or depression. Such symptoms make achieving one's life's goals difficult. The goal of psychotherapy is to relieve these debilitating symptoms. Working with adult individuals, I create an environment that facilitates an honest and open exchange between patient and therapist. My goal is to identify the source of symptoms and to increase my patient's quality of life by restoring a sense of balance of body and mind.

I am a psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience working with adults and adolescents. My background includes clinical work at several New York City hospitals, including Mount Sinai and Bellevue, as well as a private practice in Montclair, N.J. I am also a professor at Montclair State University since 2010, and have published articles on optimism and resilience.

With over ten years of experience, primarily in health & chronic illness, I am acutely aware of the toll that stress can take on your body. I have worked extensively with adults and adolescents for over 30 years and have a good understanding of childhood issues.I work with individuals and families with a focus on emotions.I believe that all people have resources to solve problems.I am easy to talk to and I have great listening skills.I have worked with individuals who are depressed and with adolescents in public education with great success I also have an extensive background in substance abuse and am certified to work with clients on Suboxone (Buprenorphine) for treatment of opiate addiction.

The Koch Center (located in Montclair, Morristown, Waldwick, & Englewood) specializes in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Therapy and Programs for Adults, Adolescents, Children, and Families. Our DBT Programs offer an opportunity to receive extensive support and expert treatment in an outpatient setting. We treat the full range of psychological issues (including Mood Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Impulse Control disorders, Eating Disorders, Trauma, Relationship Problems, Personality Disorders). We have an outpatient Trauma Program for Adults. We also offer individual therapy from varying theoretical orientations.
