I have experience working with clients across the lifespan including, but not limited to, individuals, couples, families, eating disorders/disordered eating, body image, trauma, OCD, LGBTQ+ matters, anxiety, and depression.
Sometimes we reach a season of life that we need a little help navigating, and the good news is that you do not have to do it alone. I truly believe in a collaborative counseling relationship that fosters encouragement and growth. I help clients get to the root of what is preventing them from living the life they desire and create a plan to overcome those hardships together. I offer an accepting, warm, judgement free environment that will allow us to explore your past, present and/or future to find the process that fits best for you. You are the expert on your own life and I am here to guide you through your journey.

I specialize in working with eating disorders, mood disorders, trauma, depression, anxiety, and relational/family conflict.
I strongly believe in the power of walking alongside my clients during their healing journey throughout the course of the therapeutic process. I approach therapy by looking at clients through a holistic lens in order to create space for growth in all different areas of their lives. When a client steps into my office, my ultimate goal is for them to feel safe and cultivate more awareness than what they walked in with. I believe that there is not a one-size fits all approach to therapy, so I take an eclectic approach with my clients in order to figure out what techniques and interventions meet their needs.

It's time to live the life you want to live - and decide what that life looks like. I see adolescents and young adults (13-35) and specialize in anxiety, LGBTQIA+ issues (including identity and family conflict), eating disorders, and chronic illness. Sometimes this might mean learning and practicing new skills to help you manage problems and obstacles; other times it may mean really exploring within yourself. Frequently, it means recognizing that negative thought patterns are getting in your way - and we can work together to find individualized solutions for you!

I work with adolescents (all genders) and adults who experience body image distress and minor to extreme eating disorder behaviors. I primarily work with adolescents, teens, adults, families and couples on a wide range of counseling issues like: Depression, Anxiety, Eating Disorders, Self-harm, PTSD, Marital Issues or Affairs, Rape, Grief/Loss, Divorce, Infertility/Miscarriage, and Child or Adult physical, emotional, and sexual abuse.
Each person is unique and so is what they come in with. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process. In fact, I pull from different treatment protocols to find what best fits you. This isn't a place where I tell you what to do or give advice, but a place where I join in with you in your process and we collaborate together to meet your needs. My goal is for therapy to be as efficient as possible, working through what we need to each session and maximizing a felt connection by undoing aloneness.

I specialize in Eating Disorders which include bulimia, ARFID, anorexia nervosa, binge eating, and body image.
We all need encouragement and sometimes borrowing the bravery or confidence someone else has in you is vital to taking the steps towards finding your own. The difficulties that we go through do not define who we are, they are simply a part of our story. Each person is unique in their needs and I customize therapy to fit the individual. My office is not only a safe haven for you to work through your hardest times, but is a place where you can be heard without judgement. As we walk through this journey together, my main goal is to help you become the best version of yourself.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
