I also specialize in eating disorders and addiction.
Do you feel as though your anxiety and depression are unmanageable? How about feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or helplessness like you’ve hit rock bottom and are struggling to find hope for tomorrow? Once we start to unravel the details of our past and trauma we give ourselves the ability to process feelings that we have long suppressed. I aim to collaborate with you and provide tools to decrease the challenging feelings you are currently facing and achieve a more integrated and balanced sense of self, leading to emotional healing and personal growth.

I work with individuals, both adolescents and adults, around life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-identity, relationships, and eating disorders.
Therapy is a unique opportunity to explore your truest self. It is a space with no right or wrong. I am available for you to discover and be with various parts of yourself. Together, we will explore these pieces and the experiences that cause pain and discomfort; through this, there will be space for healing, understanding, and acceptance. My goal as a therapist is to accompany you on your journey: To guide you in understanding your authentic self as you foster self-love and acceptance for all the parts of yourself.

It’s a unique type of distress to exist in a body or identity that is marginalized, threatened, invalidated or even erased within our society. That need to be “on alert” is exhausting. When we are living with this type of daily stress, it’s hard to not internalize some of these harmful narratives. As a therapist who’s part of the LGBTQIA+ community, I understand why many feel hesitation toward psychotherapy. No one should feel like they have to explain or defend their experiences, identity, or relationships. Therapy should be your space – free of judgment, assumptions, generalizations or bias.

I work best with people who have experienced some kind of Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN). Childhood Emotional Neglect happens when your parents fail to adequately respond to your emotional needs as they arise in you. If you grew up in this way, you are inevitably suppressing or walling off your emotions as an adult because you were taught that your emotions aren’t important or valid. CEN is largely invisible, and therein lies its power. It is a type of trauma but, unlike abuse, it is characterized not by an event or a presence but by a non-event or an absence.

I work with clients who are (highly) sensitive, empathic, or intuitive. Sensitive people have a finely attuned nervous system that is a huge gift when made conscious. They experience life deeply, yet don't always feel easily understood by others. Growing up, they often experienced not fitting in, and have adapted to a largely non-sensitive world in myriad ways that didn't always serve their best interest. I support sensitive people on their path to finding their voice, experiencing genuine relationships, purposeful work, and reclaiming their space in the world.

Going through life's journey is like riding a roller coaster full of ups, downs, twists, and turns. On a roller coaster, you often have someone sitting next to you regardless of if you know the person. Think of life the same way. It is challenging and shouldn't be done alone. My passion is to help clients go through life transitions and challenges with more ease by identifying and rediscovering their strengths to develop a healthy lifestyle.

If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, feeling stuck, burnt-out, or giving more than you are getting in your relationships, these are signs telling you it's time for a change. I work with individuals that want to shift painful patterns such as co-dependency, self-criticism, poor boundaries, or difficulty in intimate relationships. I also work with people who are experiencing transitions such as grief and loss, breakups, and career changes. I am trained in EMDR therapy (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), a highly effective tool for coping with and healing trauma.

Hi, I’m Eula Lys (“oi-lah leese”). I'm a trans non-binary therapist and provide somatic, relational psychotherapy that celebrates queer, expansive, non-conforming and neurodivergent folx. I help you embody your authentic self and come home to your body. I get how exhausting it can be to find supportive spaces where you have the freedom to let your identity expand and evolve. I hold a space that is supportive, affirming, and creative. I keep it real, and hold space where we can name and acknowledge systems of oppression.

I provide a nonjudgmental, safe and supportive space for you to explore stuck and challenging relationships, alter unproductive thoughts and behavior patterns and navigate transitions in your life. I enjoy working with LGBTQ families, those who identify as polyamorous, and women of all shapes and sizes.

Eating Disorders Therapists

What happens in therapy for eating disorders?

In therapy for eating disorders, patients typically describe their eating and exercise behaviors, their patterns of eating in relation to stress, their beliefs about their body, the ways their eating behavior affects their relationships, and their desire (or lack of it) to change. Such information helps the therapist understand the origins of the disorder and the role it plays in the patient’s life, important for guiding treatment. Attitudes and feelings about food and eating, body weight, and physical appearance are common topics of discussion throughout treatment.

What therapy types help with eating disorders?

Once any acute medical or psychiatric emergency is resolved, psychoactive medication is often prescribed, requiring the supervision of a psychiatrist. In addition, patients receive some form of nutritional counseling along with one or more forms of psychotherapy. For adolescents, family-based treatment is empirically validated and considered the first line of treatment; parents and their children meet weekly with a clinician as the adults are coached on how to nourish and psychologically support the young patient. Adults typically receive some form of individual psychotherapy, intended to resolve the cognitive and behavioral disturbances that underlie the disorder and to relieve the mood disturbances that accompany it. In addition, patients may also be helped by group therapy.

What is the goal of therapy for eating disorders?

The most immediate goal of treatment for eating disorders is to save the life of people who are on a path of starving themselves to death or engaging in eating patterns that are doing irreparable physical harm to their body. Once the acute medical danger is past, therapy is required to understand the nature of the disordered eating and/or exercise patterns, establish healthy eating behavior, and to tackle the many erroneous beliefs and distorted self-perceptions that underlie eating disorders and continue to pose a threat to health and life. Therapy also addresses the impaired mood that not only accompanies eating disorders but intensifies the danger to health and life.

What are the limitations of therapy for eating disorders?

Therapy can be very helpful for eating disorders—but that can happen only after people recognize they have a condition that must be treated. Especially with anorexia, the distortions in self-image that accompany the disorder can keep people from acknowledging they have a problem. Individuals may in fact see their eating disorder as a badge of self-control. Those with binge-eating disorder may feel too ashamed to seek help. Therapy cannot help those who do not avail themselves of it.

How long does therapy last for eating disorders?

Because of their complexity, recovery from eating disorders is usually a long-term process—measured in months and years— often marked by setbacks and relapse. Some form of help, such as individual or group therapy, may be advisable for much of that time. It is a general rule of thumb that the longer the illness has endured and the dysregulated eating behavior has taken root, the longer treatment is likely to be needed.
