My specialty is in treating sexual abuse, anxiety, trauma and PTSD effectively and efficiently. I'm trained in 3 evidence-based (validated by research) therapies for treating PTSD, and my goal is to help you find healing without wasting your time or money. During your first appointments, we'll determine the best plan for your therapy. Some approaches emphasize talking, while others have very little talking. Some use creative elements and story, while others work directly to treat your brain and nervous system. I also provide general counseling for depression, anxiety, and relationships.

I am passionate about working with children and adolescents, who have experienced anxiety, depression, self-esteem, school issues, and education and learning disabilities. My goal is to create a safe environment for children to promote the processing of emotions, life challenges, and changes. Tracy Thompson is the owner of the Family Therapy Place, and is a Licensed Professional Counselor. Tracy specializes in working with children and families who have discovered that life can be a tough journey. Tracy’s training and speciality is with children who have experienced developmental trauma, often due to neglect or abuse. Tracy has a strong belief and training in the experiences of attachment and works with families to rebuild and nurture attachments when they have been broken. Tracy also works with adult families that are working to manage and resolve conflict that has surfaced or created separation within the family.

Life can be scary and uncertain. Especially right now. We are all trying to figure out how to feel "normal" through the increased & unexpected stressors brought by the pandemic. We often don't consider the importance in asking for help until we feel so heavy we don't know where to turn. My role is to help you identify your strengths and help provide tools to manage the difficult emotions. Anxiety, depression, and fear are all exacerbated during a time of crisis. Some of us are isolated without much social support and are experiencing strain in our relationships with family, friends, or colleagues.

You know all the right things about mental health, but your emotions still feel overwhelming.
