About
My approach is informed by acceptance-based cognitive behavior therapy. Through collaborating with patients, I better understand how they feel and what they think. Values clarification identifies what they would like to accomplish, how they would like to live their life. Through supportive, caring interpersonal communication I work with patients to live a values-guided life. Having taught, trained, supervised, and provided CBT and Applied Behavior Analysis services for over 35 years, I have worked with individuals across the lifespan who faced challenges of anxiety, depression, pain, and chronic pain.
Acceptance-based CBT, an evidence-based psychological model of human behavior, emphasizes how context, thinking and action influence emotion. By identifying our values and taking action, we can live a values-guided life. CBT is a collaborative, action oriented, short-term stepped-care model aimed at directly at improving quality of life.
