Mental Health Support and Wellness group is open; I'm unable to take on individuals seeking individual general mental health counseling. Dr. Larry Stephens is a professional counselor working in private practice in Dayton, Ohio. He specializes in clinical mental health and substance abuse counseling. With over 29 years of combined counseling and clinical/administrative supervisory experience in the Behavioral Healthcare field, and he is currently serving as a private practitioner working with a broad spectrum of adult clients. Among his areas of expertise are substance abuse/dependence, spiritual issues, depression/anxiety, marriage/other relationship issues, social skills development, anger management, sexual compulsivity, grief and loss, stage of life transition/adjustment issues. .

I ascribe to an Existential/Humanistic theoretical approach to counseling. I am interested in working with the LGBTQ community, those with chronic pain problems, chronic health problems, dissociative disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, women's issues, and suicide prevention. I enjoy helping people learn to cope and assist them in finding a resolution to the difficulties they experience in life. I do not work with couples or do relationship counseling.

My goal is to provide excellent client focused counseling to older teens and adults. My graduate training at the University of Dayton equipped me with a passion and the tools to serve our local population. I believe that every client is unique and that my approach aims to meet people where they are and help guide them to where they want to be.
