I specialize in individual therapy with young adults for a variety of concerns (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma), though I have worked with adults of all ages. I deeply value the therapeutic relationship as an agent for change. Thus, I will work with you to establish a warm and affirming dynamic to help you process your emotions and experiences, develop coping skills, connect with core values and strengths, and challenge unhelpful or unwanted patterns and habits. My intention is to support you in developing the tools and self-confidence you need to reach your wellness goals and live a more fulfilling life.

Telehealth visits are now available. I have been providing counseling to individuals, couples and families since 1998. I have worked with clients from age 5 to 81 in addressing problems with mood and behavior, as well as relationships, and vocational problems. I practice a person-centered approach to your concerns, identify your goals and create a plan to achieve those goals. We may also use strategies from other therapeutic approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and brief solution-focused therapy.

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Certified Addiction Professional with offices in Sarasota and New Port Richey. My experience involves substance abuse, mood disorders, co-occurring disorders and anxiety disorders as well as guiding people to reduce stress and living a more fulfilling way of life. I attended school in Sarasota in the 1950's and early 1960's, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1970. I was in business in Sarasota until entering the mental health field in 1999 enrolling in Argosy/Sarasota In 2001 receiving a Master's in Mental Health Counseling in 2005.

My ideal client is someone coping with mental health challenges, such as anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and/or substance abuse. I specialize in Behavioral Activation - an evidenced based intervention for treating mood disorders and moving clients toward their goals. I also enjoy working with couples and families to help them communicate better and resolve interpersonal conflicts in a healthy way. I have been passionate about systemic couple and family therapy since becoming a therapist in 2019. I'm a certified Prepare-Enrich marital/premarital counselor and trained in the Gottman Method of couples therapy, with good outcomes.
