Robert has been practicing therapy and counseling for over 14 years, and is certified Nationally as a Master Addiction Counselor (MAC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC) and by the state of Colorado's Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and is actively pursuing his Licensure in Marriage & Family Therapy and Professional Counseling and is a Child & Family Investigator (CFI).

I focus on helping children, adolescents, and adults move forward. Problems that can get in the way of moving forward include education and behavior problems, ADD, autism, depression, anxiety, and trauma. Clinical tools include intellectual and psychological assessment and treatment interventions using cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), person centered therapy, or emotion focused therapy, which can guide you through to the goals you have set. We'll set these goals early in the session so that we can focus on achieving these goals.

Sandstone Care provides substance use, addiction, and mental health treatment for young adults (ages 18 to 30) and adolescents (ages 13 to 18) including Residential Treatment, Day Treatment (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and General Outpatient (OP) programming.

I believe; gaining insight and understanding, feeling more hopeful, knowing someone is there to listen, and being in a safe and non-judgmental environment, are just some of the important keys to therapy. One of the most difficult and courageous things someone can do is to walk into a clinician's office and ask for help. Sometimes people may hesitate to seek help because they feel alone in their pain or that no one will understand them. I work with clients ages two and older, from diverse cultural groups, and foster an atmosphere of understanding across these various age and cultural groups.

I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

Welcome to the next phase of your life! My name is Phil and I am honored to be your guide in healing and transformation. I will help you heal from past traumas, overcome obstacles, manage mental health & substance abuse issues and grow to become the person you have always wanted to be. I have had the privilege of serving as a Therapist in a variety of settings for the past 20 years. I enjoy working with adolescents (12+), adults and couples. I offer individual therapy, group therapy, life coaching and video therapy.

We offer medication-assisted therapy (MAT) for individual trying to get off of pain killers or opioids.

I graduated from the University of Denver with a Master’s in Social Work and an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Colorado in Denver. My experience includes residential counseling, case management, psychiatric stabilization through care navigation and counseling, research, program management, jail-based restoration to competency, and school social work within the populations of special and general education.
