My name is Thomas Darksmith and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I am based in the Bay Area and serve clients throughout the state of California via telehealth. I work with individuals, couples, and families, using a humanistic and psychodynamic approach. The foundation of my work is a strong therapeutic relationship, based on trust and acceptance. I integrate several modalities (including CBT, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy) to help my clients gain perspective and make informed decisions that will ultimately reduce their suffering.

Dr. Embrey has practiced psychotherapy in Europe for 15 years and in California since 1990, emphasizing the possibilities of making life better. He has been educated in England and Sweden as well as his doctorate in California. Many choices in life are difficult. Trying to understand our choices, what motivates them and seeing clearly the patterns of our life is the start of choosing a new direction for ourselves or our relationships. For the past 20 years, I have been working with children and teens who are struggling to balance the demands of school and their social life. I integrate parents in my work as much as possible. I also work with adults and Couples often come to me for help in distress and are confused about how or why their relationship has derailed. I am dedicated to helping people build stronger; more intimate relationships and I use several modalities when attempting to help couples in distress.

Building relationships is a strength of mine and I love using that as a vehicle for healing and personal growth.
